Is your Reader a "Noob", or a Veteran?

Have they just started EVE? Or do you throw all the New Eden jargon you can at them? I have been writing to make my stories so a non-Eve playing reader can read them with only being moderately confused, but it has been a conscious effort.

I try to keep my writing simple in every sentence's structure and make the complexity happen within the story.

Am I just weird? Do other people just let their writing flow? I guess I am getting at what reader those who aim to be read are thinking of.
