IMO, change nothing, but have the game client log you off after two hours of inactivity. AFK-all-day cloaking would be a side effect. Would only address the most extreme long-term cloakers, and cheaters could circumvent it. But most people won't circumvent it.

You should not have a game mechanic that makes you safer. You are playing the wrong game if you really think this way.

What the hell are you even talking about? I shouldn't play eve because I don't think cloaking needs a major nerf ? What?

Logging off an AFK cloaky which makes no distinction if the person is at the keyboard and not inputting something or not is a nerf, and one that reduces your risk and in a mechanistic way. If you can find a way to play the game with less risk fine, but having the game do it for you is Badâ„¢.

I just had a guy afk camp for 20 hours and then cynod in a black ops team and destroy a 500 mil dominix. And after it hot dropped it went out, came back in and is sitting in the system now, almost 3 days straight. This is stupid. He gets rewarded for afk play, but we players who are non afk and playing the game have to sit in the station. It sends a bad message. but if we had this decloaker. he can't be afk or he will be dead. Gonna hot drop then hot drop, so we can get on with our lives.

I know someone who would swear that AFK cloaking NEVER fools anyone, and that this is the grounds for it's removal.
A thing that gets no kills being a bad mechanic.

for the purpose of this thread. afk cloaking defined in this example. i'm a cloaked tengu with cyno. i sit in a ratting upgraded system. i leave for work. stay cloaked. come back. do a d scan. nothing i like.. oh wife is calling. brb. come back an hour later. my black op buddies not on. okay watch tv. come back finally got target and hot drop.

It's unique in that its not there in the list of afk cloaking solutions , ive read it. Fair, well got to have some marketing. it's people's idea to decide if its fair or not. anyways i haven't seen an argument how its not fair. so how is it not fair...mr probably should move back to hi sec.

The question is, can ccp reward afk play. like i said if he's not afk. he cannot die as he will simply recloak.

The question is what can CCP do to ensure that the person is not semi afk cloaking. its obvious the ratters are not afk. So if there is no guarantee, the possibility of rewarding afk cloakers at the expense of non afk gamers are very real. If they are there for one whole day at their pc. good for them. it doesn't penalize that.

I will credit you on this:
You did not roll over and whimper, you apparently kept playing the game.

For ratting, and for mining, there are tactics you can employ to thwart hostile presence. Baiting is one option, but difficult if they also are watching local, and see a group of newly arrived allies to their potential target.

I would be happy to offer tactical suggestions, to fit your situation. CCP is unlikely to do anything on this topic any time soon, so having options might be useful.

If so, please advise for ratting or mining, I can't suggest anything for missioning and other items, as they are too often unique for any one strategy to cover them all.

Sure, but I get a module that automatically undocks everyone inside a station and bumps everyone out of every POS in a system to compensate.

If you want to talk about complete safety, explain how a cloaker is any safer than anyone inside of a station or POS.

I only want something like this to take effect so I can listen to the screams of all the pilots opposed to the idea of nerfing the cloaking mechanic, and when a tidal wave of threads come wanting the current mechanic back, CCP would throw all the links in to one thread and then the ones against AFK cloaking can tell them to go post there... and even more buttmad would ensue!

I see what you did there. Well done, oh yeah, and you're right **** game balance. Roll
