Combat Sites

I know it is all part of the game, but nothing ticks me off more than having someone roll into a combat site I've been clearing and blast the dread pilot that is nearly the only thing worthwhile there.
Would it be too much to see if you couldn't have a module for either the utility high slot or even any other slot that was something like a signature scrambler that in effect removed the combat site from the general scanner readout? Instead it would pop up like the other celestial sites and require someone to scan it down to get there.
This scrambler would only be good for say 20-30 minutes and only as long as you were within 100km of it. It could also be used in a celestial site (relic/data/combat/wormhole) to increase the probe strength required to scan down the anomaly.
Any thoughts?

Um it is supposed to tic you off. And you are supposed to interact with that person. How you interact is up to you as eve is totally open ended so you can create your own style. No scripted events of game play.

The only style that does not work in this scenario is to make it so others can not interact with you which is what you are suggesting.

Here's a thought.

If CCP changed the game mechanics every time someone complained on the forum, this game would be a real mess.

Features and Ideas and nope that's the first step along the path to instances, a most unevelike thing.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Well, despite the "I love your tears" posts, actually some really good points about issues with a mechanic like this. I think it may be workable, but hadn't thought about some of the issues you guys brought up.

Thoughts? EVE is suppose to be PvP oriented. What you are kinda talking about is being able to stake claim to the site for being the first one to go to it once it spawns. The way I can see this happening is if each site began with a gate and some defending npc's. One of the npc's has the gate key and only when that gate key is in your inventory can you go through.

This still leaves that window of oportunity to have the key stolen from you. Depending on the ship used and the estimated value of the site, this can open up new ganking oportunities as well.

If they get the last hit they get the wreck and you get concorded if you blow it up. You have to be closer and turn your flags to yellow to beat them to the punch to loot the wreck also. Which given you have probably been using some speed in tanking all the rest of the room while you fight your way through is unlikely you will be right ontop of the wreck.
Personally if I drop in and see someone has almost completed an anom, I will let them have the loot. I may try to steal the spawn in order to get the escalation if it occurs, but I don't keep the loot afterwards.
If I warp in & it's just starting, I will happily contest them and steal it from under their nose.

But I'm a lot politer than most people. Suicide ganking is always a revenge option.

You're in a sandbox with thousands of other people. If you don't like the online interaction, go try a single player sandbox like the X series.

Oh and, HTFU or GTFO!

Never ceases to amaze me the complex arguments put up by some players, but my main goal was to get little discussion going so I'm pretty happy with the inputs I am getting from others

Never leave the commander until you have cleared anything else... Kill the commander and loot the wreck before anything else, and then mop up the rest... DED4's in hisec are easily tankable for you to survive...

Other than racing someone to it (you win some, you lose some) there isn't much you can do short of leaving the site or being concrded.

Or do what Renegade Heart said, but if you cant tank lowsec DEDsites then in might be a bit hard...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Try running the sites in NullSec under an alliance or Providence under NRDS there is an etiquette there that the first person to start a site is the one who gets the site. There is little theft of faction spawns, anomalies or DED sites there.
Empire should be a free for all, it's part of the game having to deal with other players and such.

I have had people come in and steal the Overseer in Empire DED sites or Faction spawns from anomalies, and I have done the same back to others. You win some and you lose some.

Some advices run them in an Assault Frigate as you will lock faster.
Overheat your weapons to do more damage and claim wrecks.
Hold off on shooting before final spawns of acceleration gates open.
Align into gates before the final rat dies to get into warp faster.

Think smart and you have a good chance of keeping your spawns of stealing others.

Thanks a lot to those who have given advice on the best tactics to deal with this issue in the game. Personally I only contemplate doing this type of thing to others who have already done it to me, guess I'm just too much of a softie for some aspects of the game.

So there used to br this cool anom that would spawn a bunker that would drop good lewtz every hour or so, naturally every idiot in the world thought it was theirs.
There i am in my assfrig, blapping away when this guy starts giving me serious insubordination in local. Seemed a newbie corpie of his had got some aggro from a baddie that had stolen 'his' stuff.
I'm all like: wasn't me, don't care, shutup
He smacks hard with prison style lingo for almost 30 minutes.
SO I WARDECCED HIS CORP.
My SB and Dramiel and locator agent turned into the ugliest bad dream they'd ever had. They moved across the map, they jump clowned around, they tried bargaining, long mails of reason and pleading. I stacked their slowest member's corpses in a can and contracted it to them.

TL;DR: Feature working as intended.

I don't get it. If they're red, shoot them. If they're blue, report them to a diplo. (Your alliance does have rules against this kind of thing, right?)

Thanks for the recommendation to go to this forum as well. You can see a little more detail about my idea and lick up some more tears or give some constructive input at my post in the features and ideas forum here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=285254

Thanks for all the input so far and any to come
