Who Am I?
Tom Gerard, Former Forum Troll; I was one of the loudest, most abrasive, and abusive commentators throughout the whole "monocle gate" incident. I am now a very happy capsuleer who feels compelled to recognize the changes that have been made to New Eden.

Why am I thanking CCP?

-- This is yet another FREE expansion to a game I love.

-- This expansion is about SHIPS IN SPACE! =)

-- This expansion has ZERO "pay to win" flavoring to it.

-- This expansion adds CONTENT to the game! =)

-- This expansion clearly demonstrates the developers have a passion for the game.

I'd like to say it:

CCP you made massive changes since the release of Incarna, and made BIG PROMISES, and for several expansions now have delivered and exceeded my expectations. If I could complain about anything it would be that I want "MORE" of the good stuff you've been releasing.

Wishlist:

PC Support for Dust514, and Valkyrie Big smile

A DevBlog about the EVEmobile mentioned at fanfest, it may not be audible but their is a ROAR of excitement coming from the people I play with who are VERY excited and would love a peek at what is in development for our mobile devices.

Now with 100% less Troll.

If someone was to tell me that I would be agreeing with Tom Gerard on the Eve forums, I would have told them to 'shut the hell up'

I tip my internet space hat to you Mr Gerard, well played sir!

I am excited for Rubicon. Thus most miners will now say they hate it.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

1) WoW also has FREE "expansions" to the game that add dungeons and new items to the game from time to time, including bug fixes and other such stuff. EVE's expansions have lately been just major patches. Well needed ones yes, but not expansions.

2) There will never be pay to win in this game even if they added it. Superior numbers always beat superior weaponry. And Eve's all about bringing bigger gangs with you.

3) No it doesn't. Tyrannis added content to the game, this just adds a few ships and bug fixes and balances, just like any other larger patch usually does.

4) So much passion that they work on an arcade space-flight-sim on their free time that has almost nothing to do with EVE but the graphics? So much passion that they can't be arsed to think of proper expansions to the game?

Sointu,

Your comparison to WoW is interesting, I too play that game and enjoy it.

The difference between the two is single iteration content vs persistent content.
Basically in WoW I run content once for story and ntimes for gear. After the content is consumed I need more and WoW delivers. In EVE content is persistent there is no diminishing returns on piloting a rifter. In fact I flew and lost the same rifter hundreds of times in RvB.

Due to the persistence of content CCP is slower to release as content can be enjoyed indefinitely and can negatively affect existing content if poorly implemented (ref: incarna).

The rest is just "like you opinion... man"

Anyone who says Rubicon doesn't add content doesn't understand what content actually is.

Funny, I would say that anyone who thinks Rubicon adds content doesn't understand what content actually is. "Ooh, couple of ships and few deployable items, CONTEEENT!" I really hope they deliver some actual content in the next expansions after this one like they promise or they'll be making pretty big fools out of themselves.

  • Most other MMO's require you to pay extra for an expansion on top of the 15$/month so you could consider the expansions for eve to be free
  • Meh DUST
  • Sure bro, buy some plex, sell them on the market, officer fit your "insert ship here" and come at me bro. Plex is not pay to win, it makes it a little easier to acquire certain items to ease fittings, but if you don't know how to fit it nor fly nor know what you can engage with it, you'll lose regardless of the amount of $$ you spent to put the ship together.
  • Content is indeed made by players and CCP merely provides tools for the players to use/abuse to make the content. So even though it looks like CCP only adds minor/insignificant tools, they still bring new content because there will be players using/abusing those tools.

I wouldn't expect a NPC alt to understand what content in EVE is.

Dungeons =/= content.
Shiny yet useless ships =/= content.
NPCs =/= content.

Entirely new way to disrupt someone's moon mining operation = content.
Fighting over highsec POCOs = content.
Warp speed changes = complete overhaul of very basic mechanics of combat = content.
Ship rebalance = much bigger choice of viable ships and fleetcomps = content.

this will be remembered as the "warp speed expansion". i'm surprised as to how so few see the implications and applications of faster warp in and warp out.

its not just about fast points, but also fast ganks, and harassing doctrines with ABCs... etc, etc.

i'm more interested on the effect this will have on blobwarfare over the effect it will have on small gangs and interceptors.

It's sad that the most exiting thing coming in this 'patch' is going to be the warp speed acceleration changes.

When you say 'most of us' are happy with the complete lack of content in this coming expansion, I presume you meant 'I'. Because you are not most of us.
