T2 Heavy Destroyers

At the moment, the only T2 destroyer type is the interdictor - which for many people is their "end-game", or at least a major goal.

CCP has had the newer destroyer classes around for a while, so they probably have their own ideas already.

So, what might an advanced destroyer be like?

(1) You could look at a mlitary hull, that's simply tougher and able to survive. There is the expression "all tank, no gank" - but a faction destroyer would fill this role better.

(2) While "gunboat" with medium guns would be interesting, it would be cheesy to give it 5-8 guns, so you might as well just fly a cheap cruiser or battlecruiser anyway.

(3) However, when I have flown cov ops frigates/stealth bomber, there have been times when I wished for rapid fire missiles or assault missiles - somehow they can manage to fit torps.

(4) It could be a middle ground ship between the Cov Ops and Recon cruiser - focusing more on the EA frigate style of attacks - vampires, ECM, sensor dampeners, etc.

(5) MY WISH LIST:

(a) The cargo capacity expanded to that of a maurauder, or about half of a Noctis.

(b) A BLOPS style cloaked velocity bonus, rather than giving the ability to warp while cloaked.

(c) Retain the EWAR style bonus of the recon cruisers, but not the tackle bonuses.

(d) Cruiser level power grid and capacitor, but not medium hard points. This can make it a viable choice between rapid fire light missile launchers, or tanking modules with regular light missiles. HAMs would require big sacrifices to squeeze in.

In summary, this gives you a ship with a reasonable cargo capacity, but is not impossible to detect. It is a raider, designed to operate deep in enemy terrritory, to lurk, or just make off with ill-gotten gains.
