Faction Warfare and pirates...sigh

SO as a new player to eve and Faction warfare.
ALL I see are pirate corps set up on gates to low sec coming from High sec and insta poping and poding newbies.

As in all games where the masses are allowed to play there will always be "greivers", but that leaves me to 1 question

Why would anyone play THIS game if they are blown up every time they decided to go and try to plex a system, when your only route is thru the one gate where 10 pirates are posted waiting for you.

Sure isk is easy to make, after you have established time in the game and have the resources to earn it
Sure combat is easy, after you have established the time in the game to use the stuff that makes it easy.

I started with 5k isk and a ship that does lol 11 dps. so how am I to make isk in FW when I cant outrun, outgun or hold my ground from their assaults.

Not really seeing the fun in that.

Go to another system thats not camped? Skill up Hull upgrades II (like 2 hours) for some Warpcore Stabbies and Nanos then refit when in deeper low? Get some friends, kill the camp?

You have to solve problems in this game. It's hard. That's why most people like it. As for your 'problems', they are far from insurmountable. Because I'm a lovely guy (ask anyone), I'll lay it out for you.

1) Enter low sec in a pod (pirates can't catch you)
2) Go to friendly hub system
3) Buy frigate
4) Find quiet backwater
5) Open plex
6) Run if someone chases you
7) Cash in lp

You can easily make an excellent income doing this which will fund your development as a player and increase your understanding of game mechanics.

When I started playing this game I ratted in low sec to earn isk. It took me about a day's grind to afford a cruiser. You could manage the same in about 15 minutes. In summary: quit whining.

Getting and being blowd up is actually the point of low sec. If you goal is simply to plex a system then im kinda glad you are having trouble.

I highly highly suggest joining a noob-friendly corp. They'll help you move stuff into low-sec and from there you can start doing what you want.

As a new player to Eve, I suggest you hold off from FW for about a month until you get your very basic skills trained up. Then apply to a corp that helps to train new pilots. They'll usually help you get in ships, give you advice on flying, training skills, how to get past those gate camps, etc. There's so many things that a group of players can do in Eve that a single solo player cannot. And given that you're new... flying around solo will be incredibly painful.

One of the goals in EVE is to BE THAT CAMPER !
Another is to get into a fleet and KILL THOSE CAMPERS !

You're just not there yet.
When you do get there, the PvP part is much more fun than the PvE part.

Remember, 95% of the ships in EVE have guns...

One time, I watched a GCC PRoteus camping a gate jump into high sec to evade our gatecamp-killing fleet. That was a good haul for me.

EVE has always many ways to do same thing.

It seems that you used most obvious way to do something and usually griefers, pirates, enemies etc exploit the most obvious ways, camping and killing newbies, lazy and careless players.

If you really want to try FW and you really are newcomer to eve, i recommend that you join some veteran militia corporation who helps out giving some advises and maybe even material support to get started.

if all you want is to plex.. plex somewhere else. WZ is quite large. Certain gates seem to attract camps more than others (hint).

camping gates isn't very skill intensive or honorable but a completely valid game mechanic and works while being drunk.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

If you can't stand the group-centric PvP elements, don't go to a place where PvP is 99% of the life there. If all you want to do is farm ISK then stay in highsec and run missions.

Because you shoudl get into a REAL corp and ask the members to teach you how ato avoid this certain death.

HInt.. your failure is not at the gate.. is at staying at the noob corps.

There are several ways to bypass gate camps.

First is to travel-fit your ship; warp core stabilizers, nanofibers to reduce align time, a microwarp drive to burn out or back to the gate, maybe a cloak. Not 100% guaranteed.

Second is to get a buddy to scout the other side of the gate for you; if you're in a corp operating in the war zones, generally there'll be at least one or two guys who can fly covert ops or force recon ships, who will be able to tell you if the gate's clear or not.

Third would be to try alternate routes, checking kill counts on the EVE in-game map or on the evemaps.dotlan.net maps. For entering Black Rise, for example, systems like Tama and Akidagi are often extremely active, but Ishomilken and Ikoskio are much quieter, and make decent alternate routes (at the expense of longer journeys once you're over the low-sec threshold). Friends who are familiar with the local astrography can be very helpful in this regard as well.

wow, the universe of EvE is seemingly getting smaller and smaller. Apparently there is only one way to get somewhere (again).

Take some time to experiment with your eve map. It's amazing you can see ships in system in the last 30mins, how many ships have been destroyed and a whole bunch of other stuff.

and then you can plot a route to avoid those heavy traffic systems. . .

Also.. wormholes for the win, they can always spit you out anywhere. of course you then need to worry about a completely different type of camp.

There are probably more ways into lowsec than there are big pirate corps in the game.

That is all.

(I for example have never ever lost anything going from high to low.)

Just don't go trough those gates. Fastest High Sec - Low Sec access points are often camped, but there's always a backdoor, longer but safer.
But mostly: don't be a tourist, move and live in low sec, you will minimize the risk to travel trough that gates. FW is a low sec "profession".

To get pass a low-sec gate camp:

- install warp core stabilisers in your low slots (immune to warp scramble)
- insteall low friction nozzles in your rig slots (to boost agility and reduce align times)
- install small/medium shield modules in your mid slots (increase your survivability if you do get locked)

Put all the other modules you intend to use in your cargohold and dock at a station once you're pass the camp. Swap the modules & rigs there, and pat yourself on the back. :)

The answer is -

Don't go to High sec.

Then you wont have to pass any camps to enter low sec.
