Im considering setting up a research POS and letting others use it. If I have BP's being researched, can someone else in the corp access them in any way (aka internal theft)? If so, are there security measures that can be enacted to thwart this?

might wanna ask S&I, you can probably lock it, but i'm not sure how that fares when you're trying to do research on it and it can get very annoying if you don't own the corp itself or have significant control over it

If you want a truly secure setup to minimize the risk of loss of a BPO.

1) Dedicate 1 corporate hangar tab to each person. Make sure that roles are set in a way that nobody has access to anyone else's hangar tab. The only person that can do damage at that point to BPOs is the director (who can see into all the tabs). For a R&D corp that wants to allow copy/invention access to the labs (or manuf access to arrays), this is your only choice.

Downside: It doesn't scale past 6 guests.

2) Form an alliance, let other corps join your alliance to do ME/PE research on the POS labs. Copying/Invention is not possible, but BPO theft risk is managed by whatever internal security arrangements they use.

Downside: No invention/copy + 1B ISK setup fee

(I don't remember whether BPOs can be researched once locked down - probably they can, as long as the POS tower is in the same system.)

The way we have done it, is locking down all BPOs in one hanger, then do everything remote. You need to have an office in same system as POS. At no time unless you need to move office do you have to unlock the BPOs, you can do ME/PE/Coping remote.

1. Not even the CEO can take the BPOs out unless voted for unlock
2. BPOs will not be at POS if war decced and tower lost
3. You can do the exact same remote as at the POS, but in some case like some copies you need to make sure the Data Sheets are store in the lab and correct hanger at the POS.
4. When coping you have the benifit that the Copies will end up in the lab, while the BPO stays in station.. No mix up on BPOs and BPCs.
