Lol with GTA V coming out to PC on November 22 who cares about Rubicons or X-Rebirths Twisted

I wonder how many GTAs have been released all while Eve was building subs last 10 years.

Oh thats right, GTA FIVE.

I wonder how many copies sold and money has Rockstar and the GTA series made compared to CCP and EVE.

Oh yeah thats right, around 50 million copies and 2 billion USD (most sucessful game ever) vs 500k accounts and 50 million USD.

Now back to the discussion, that post you quoted was meant to express my opinion about how GTA V PC launch will gather the attention of PC gamers in detriment of this EVE "expansion" or the X-Rebirth game. It was not a "GTA will kill EVE" post, as obviously that won't happen, they're not even competitors in the same game genre.

Just because you don't do it doesn't mean it isn't the major part of the game.

You should try it. get a load of cheap frigs and just have a load of fun. It really is the most incredible experience

Just try and take my word for it... neither I'm going to change my opinion about PvP in EVE, nor you would like that EVE changed in a way such that I would engage in PvP in it.

I totally agree that PvP is the funniest thing I've done online. But I don't do it in EVE.

without a shadow of a doubt you are missing out on 95% of the best parts of EvE

Telling others how to play?

get off your grinding axe

I'm always appealing people give PvP in EvE another go.

I just have never found such a great competitive experience.

Theres a difference between "try it again" and "well I'm going to force you"

If you've never tried PvP in EvE it's quite possible you've missed out on one of the greatest rushes available in modern gaming.

Nice assumption, quite wrong.

And while there is a difference between "try it again" and "well I'm going to force you", telling someone that expressly does not want to PvP that they are missing 95% of the fun is subjective rhetoric that no one wants to hear.

And the logic that "Because I always do it it's OK" is ******* terrible.

Now as far as GTA is concerned, anyone not taking GTA seriously as a market competitor is seriously lacking perception skills. Look at the dips in PCU when other games came out, games that weren't in the same genre either. For example DIII took several thousand off the PCU, more than 10% .And GTA is already the biggest game ever and not even out on PC yet. It's like thinking Eminem doesn't affect other artists' sales just because you hate him.

Six, actually.
Seven if you count GTA V (which is the 13th game in the series).

How would i express it...

...I know that by avoiding (asploding ships in space) PvP, I am missing EVE's largest individual source of fun.

But it is not the only source of fun, and this thread starts with an instance on how other things that don't imply (asploding ships in space) PvP could also be fun, but aren't even contemplated.

The Hallelujah plan, by attempting to replay Apocrhypha, is both unoriginal and untimely. There is a time to conquer and a time to build, and EVE's time to build is long overdue.

^^ This.

Getting RUBICON out early also concerns me. Why early? What does CCP need the time for otherwise ?

Be nice if CCP offered a little insight on their timetable (now that Soundwave is gone) and thus the early release date.

By releasing Rubicon 2 weeks earlier than usual, they're stepping on Egosoft's X-Rebirth release date (November 19th). Roll

I dont think I have even remotely enough tinfoil for the tent you need.

Dominion: Released December 1st
Incursion: Released November 30th
Crucible: Released November 29th
Retribution: Released December 4th

Rubicon: Scheduled November 19th

X Rebirth: Scheduled November 19th in the USA (November 15th in Europe)

As you can see, the last 4 winter expansions where launched either the last tuesday of november or the first tuesday of December, whereas Rubicon has been scheduled two weeks earlier, and coincidng with the launch date of a game that competes for the same player niche.

rebirth is a singleplayer game

i very much doubt anyone would cancel their eve subscription to play it. i intend to play both.

i suspect any person of sound mind would hold the same doubt

Indeed, all of them constantly followed up with awesome content, new gameplay features and graphic engine improvements, and of course, always unparalleled in the breaking of all-time sales records in the video-game industry.
And you can count the rest of Rockstar Games' titles and all their sequels in too (Max Payne, Red Dead, LA Noire, Midnight Club, Manhunt, etc) which by the way were all very well received and made huge sales profits, unlike CCP's side games that are... well... flops, which not even using desperate public opinion control attempts like hiring youtube girls and marketing weasels seem to be able to survive on their own.

Lol no biggie, I can see how my posts can sometimes be easily interpreted as "game X will kill EVE". I don't think any game will kill EVE (though it might have problems with new competition). It sure could benefit a lot from including some of the gameplay that makes those games great tho (e.g. 3rd person avatar gameplay).
