tell me how expensive it is to update legacy code while keeping the game active and adding new features updating graphics and performance. oh and moreover blanacing literally everything... and updating the UI.

Hell they are contantly working on improving the game... its just in the last two year a good chunk of it has been updating legacy code so they can give us all that cool new stuff we want.

ccp spent over 7 years putting out unfinished features... it takes a while to get them all to working fashion

The new ship generator for Somer is pretty big. Just right click anytime they need a new prize ship. Pretty sweet, wish I could have one.

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

No.

All the real content is now going to Dust, World of Darkness, and Valkyrie. We don't get any.

Would be hilarious to see Concord fleets showing up in null sec, and just start shooting things.

Concord incursion fleets FTW. Payout in loot and tags. Pirate

Just wondering if we are going to see some significant changes and updates rather just another improvements or tweaks to existing?

  • Tech 1 Cov Ops Combat Explorer Ships - Cool, but not "BIG!"
  • Anchorable Siphon Unit - Yeah, I think that's a big deal.
  • Anchorable Depot w/Fitting Service - Yeah, that is a big deal as well. This will make it MUCH harder to protect renters.
  • Anchorable Cyno Unit - Maybe not "BIG!" but its a nice bulwark against hot drops.
  • Anchorable Tractor Unit - Eh. Yeah, not big in my book
  • Warp Acceleration/Speed changes - Oh yeah.. this is a "BIG!" change as it will change all sorts of tactics.
  • Tiercide(Marauders, EAFs, Interdictors, Interceptors) - Always "BIG!", the benefits of Tiercide are clear to everyone.
  • High-Sec POCO change - This could be "BIG!", which would be very bad for the game (i.e. Null-sec alliances take over all the POCOs and high-sec players unable to mount a decent resistance) or could be "Not BIG!" but be very cool as a high-sec conflict generator.

All in all, there is a lot of more subtle "BIG!" things that will change gameplay considerably over time.

He's not trolling...

Obviously needs to seek professional help if he gets upset at a normal question. Thats just weird that someone would react like that, its not normal.

Funny how you seem to be the one who's upset...

Even more funny to consider how many actually big things are known already,
which you either ignored or simply didn't realise...

But yeah, a normal question...

CCP are at the bleeding edge of technology. They were once asked why they wanted a specific processor for TQ as the one they were looking to buy was typically reserved for military applications.

To keep the EVE universe up and running takes a little more effort than running the grocery store's inventory and accounts.

Tranquility is expected to run 23.5/7/365 because the entire non-Chinese user base needs it to be there. That's making very many demands of the hardware and the supporting software.

On top of all that features have to be added to legacy systems that have been around since the dawn of EVE.

And on top of -that-, all of it has to make sense in the continuing development of the New Eden demesne. 16 million worth of R&D is not going to be asking for too much. Quite the contrary.

OP wants to know what the new big thing is: it is the first step of CCP relinquishing power over the universe to us, the pod pilot community. It is very aptly-named the crossing of the Rubicon. There's no turning back once that control has been ceded. It is a very big risk to take. If any crew can handle that kind of ballsy gamble, it's CCP.

The other new equipment is going to open up very many new opportunities for us, the new ships and mechanics are going to be a test of our inventiveness to come up with uses that elevate the feature to a height CCP had not envisioned when the feature was introduced.

It is a beautiful place.

The highsec customs office change is extremely big, although IMO not in the way that the tinfoil hatters ("grrrr scary Goons!") think it is. A lot of conflict will be generated over this as various groups figure out how to game the system. It may take a while for the impact to be fully realized.

New ships are quite big. One new ship is big. How long has it been?

Rubicon already looks more like a real expansion than Odyssey. CCP should really stop calling the minor tweaks "expansions." Roll out a few of the larger tweaks with the patches a few times a years and then do one awesome serious expansion once a year.

It depends really on how you define BIG. If you mean BIG, as in large development effort then there is nothing big coming. The customs offices changes is probably just an SQL statement. Hell, most of the balancing changes are just a series of SQL statements.

If you mean impact on the game, then there are a lot of things that will have a massive impact on the game. The customs office change will change things dramatically, and the deploy-able structures really will.

However, I will not be satisfied by the devs making big changes with no effort because they think they can fob us off with **** polished up.

The amount of tears for failed patch will be big. They are adding code so the patch itself might be big. The amount of new launcher threads will be big.

It's not like it's hard to find some big things about rubicon...

Yes, I mean impact on the game -- positive impact, that is. This means more players playing it and good feedback, which hopefully will translate in the long term to what you're looking for in an expansion.

I understand where you're coming from but I'm not going to speculate on what's going on behind the scenes at CCP. If they're releasing content that has a positive impact on the game then I'm OK.

Interceptor pilots flying around null uninhibited means that all that space in the outskirts of the map will be visited (unlikely to see any pvp come from this, but baby steps! Get people out to null first).

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Would you guys rather spend 50-60 bucks for 1 expansion a year that takes up all their time? That is pretty much the only alternative we'd have. Either they do these 2 smaller "expansions" for free or one and make us pay more..

Its significant that we get pile of new structures... One that can steal moongoo from POS mining the moon. Hey piracy in nullsec.
Take blockade runner and go steal some moongoo from nullsec alliances moonmining posses.. No need for ninja moonmining towers anymore...

Player owned pocos in highsec, thats a big change... And the little we know about the vision.. theres great things comeing in next couple years... They talk about space travel mastering. Sounds like new systems to explore and conquer..

We are Minmatar, Our ship are made of scraps, but look what our scraps can do...
