GTAV is all the rage these days.

I notice that people are talking about player-made VIDEOS of that game as much if not more than the game.

Where it not for all that talk, I would not know a thing about it.

Shame there's no Eve player-made videos as exciting but then, we got apples to oranges here. Player-made videos of Eve that can maintain an attention span for more than 10 seconds require obscure techno and a snarky narrative and still, there's a challenge.

Not taking a shot at the game really, but as someone who routinely had to display complex electronics products to "pointy pointy clicky clicky all done" types, I know exactly what Joe average intelligence is going to think 10 minutes into any player made Eve video that does not start with breasts.

According to EVE Offline, weekly averages are pretty much standard for five years running now.

(Dates are in the proper DD-MM-YYYY format)

03-09-2009 - 29000
02-09-2010 - 30000
01-09-2011 - 26000
13-09-2012 - 28000
12-09-2013 - 27000

Looking at the graph, the end of the year is a low point consistently. The early months average 35000+ weekly averages.

That's a pretty damn steady trend of not dying.

1) in September EVE population decreases;

2) GTAV is major factor;

3) like Doc said - toilets in SC are fun too, at last I have new spaceship content.

People who can't believe that players just might be out exploring other parts of the EvE universe rather than be hanging around waiting to be ganked in some boring system right after a major update revolving around...... EXPLORATION...

You could verify, by obtaining the data yourself, but its far more fun to start conspiracy theories I guess ^^

Now just you hold on a minute there sparky. Are you trying to use actual FACTS to prove something on the EVE-O forums?
People here wont hold for that kind of new fangled thinking. The folks round here like their arguments from the heart. You know, opinion, hyperbole and hearsay.

When I first played 4 years ago there were easily 50-60k players online. In the past two months the population hasn't gone over 46k players. Hell, there were only 119k late late last night.Eves not dying, but did get less popular.

50-60k wasnt the average 4 years ago. I dont think we ever even hit above 55k online until this year in fact. There were definetely not 119 thousand people on last night. EvE has only gotten more popular every year.

Um... Yeah actually it was 60k ish 4 years ago... well maybe 3, just before incarna the population was at its highest levels.

If, by amazingly stable you mean at the same low number as during the low point of the Incarna fail, then yes the game is stable. CCP made a massive deal out of how **** their active player levels and subs were after Incarna. Now the active player levels are the same and we've not heard a peep.
