Wormhole space is the fourth clearly-defined type of territory in EVE Online, and it functions uniquely from high-security, low-security, or even null-security space. Here are some reasons why wormhole space might be right (or wrong) for you:

No Local Channel.
This is the biggest difference between wormhole space and regular space in EVE. In regular space, subspace comms allow you to see the faces and names of everyone in your system. Not so in WH space Here, an entire fleet of ships could be creeping up behind your Hulk, and you wouldn’t know it until it was too late. (Or you could be the one creeping.)

No Marked Sites on the Overview.
In keeping with the flavor and mechanics of unknown space, all sites must be scanned down by probes (or the onboard scanner) before you can warp to them. The potential profits are balanced by the time it takes to find them. (It also means you can become hopelessly lost.)

System Effects.
Most places in WH space exist near a significant solar object, whether it be a black hole or a pulsar. Their presence might influence the rules of physics, perhaps giving you a larger boost to shield repair or hindering the range of your target lock.

Entrances that Change and Collapse.
Wormhole systems are linked to normal space and each other through connections that collapse after a certain amount of time or mass has passed through. Unlike normal space systems, this means that your exits must be periodically scouted, and that your neighbors change each day.

Very Little Blob Warfare.
Because of the aforementioned point, large fleets of anything larger than battlecruisers are very rare, usually only seen in full-scale system attack and defense. Wormhole combat devolves more into skirmishes between small, fast-moving “wolfpacks” or low-scale wormhole camps.

No Sovereignty.
Wormholes are at best ever controlled, never owned. In addition, constantly changing connections means constantly changing borders with allies and enemies. WH space is nothing if not unpredictable.

Cap on Capital Size.
The largest wormholes will still let nothing larger than a dreadnaught/carrier/freighter pass through. Additionally, without sovereignty to set up Outposts and other large bases, it is impossible to build anything larger than these inside. This, combined with the “wolfpack”-style warfare, means that it’s much easier to be personally significant on the battlefield.

Incredible Opportunities.
For all its trouble, wormhole space contains perhaps the richest resources and rewards in the entire EVE universe. Sleeper loot, ABC ore, Fullerene clouds, and T3 components and production have allowed many inhabitants to pay for their accounts with PLEXes immediately.

Come fly with us.
