With the controversial reintroduction of these ships, it got me thinking about a way to have available limited edition ships. My idea here could pull in existing limited edition ships, but it doesn't have to. For the sake of simplicity, I'm going to use existing ships as examples.

There are/were 19 Silver Magnates. The first step requires the creation of the Silver Heron, Probe, and Imicus. (Or 4 entirely new Silver ships, based on a different set of hulls). Each should be balanced to be high end frigates. BPCs for these ships will drop with a super low chance (Revenant BPC levels) for as a reward completion of Faction Warfare plexes. They will drop up to a maximum number of 19 ships. Once 19 exist, no more BPCs will drop until one has been destroyed.

To encourage the destruction of the silver ships, by completing Faction Warfare plexes with a silver ship you will get a super low chance of a Gold Magnate/Heron/Probe/Imicus (or whatever) BPC drop. In addition, fighting in the silver ships should give you a decent LP% bonus (20-50%) to encourage you to keep flying it, even if the gold ships exist.

Again, to encourage use of the gold ships, they should also get the LP% bonus (50-100%) and have a tiny chance to get one of the RSI/AII/TTI/MFI battleships (or some new equivalent).

Not only would this create new super-rare trophies, but gives them a legitimate reason to be used (much like the existing AT ships used to getting the new AT ships).

Agreed.
There should be more to these ships than hangar queen and being killed in lulzy ways (I mean seriously did any of them die outside tournaments in good combat or was it all, yeah he dead stuff?)
