Naw... Not the most stupid. Introducing EVE-Gate then running the ship design voting from Facebook vs their new "social media" tool, which all EVE players have access to - now that was a brain-fart beyond this Somer issue.

This one is just annoyingly malformed.

A few issues...

1) Prove it. There is no transparency with somer and their transactions.
2) There is no proof that somers give away of these special items was fair - neither I, you, or CCP have access to their systems and code. It is also very unlikely that CCP have fully audited every account and transaction in game, let alone the out of game interactions

A few issues your response fails to acknowledge at all:

3) Somer excluded people at their own discretion from this competition. They have their own rules and policies, which are not dictated by or inline with CCPs own. This means a player group has been given the right to exclude paying subscribers from new game content. How many people share IPs because they are on a college dorm, or have a family member who also plays? Why were these people not allowed to partake in this?

4) Somer is an in-game, for-profit organisation. Even if they were to give away the prizes fairly, and to give away all profit generated by it (how on earth can you measure the profit resulted from the increased business as a result special shinies specifically, by the way?) they were still granted an extreme advantage over other in-game, for-profit organisations, by forcing players to become new 'customers' of somer, directing them to their website and services.

5) No other entity was given the opportunity somer were. If CCP had made it such that competing organisations were allowed to "buy" the right to give away these ships, that would have been one thing. They weren't. It was automatically given to somer.

Maybe you should look up how that whole lottery worked before you say nonsense "every time".
Nobody knows how much ISK (and PLEX referrals) Somer made because of this event, because you cannot know if a player played because of the event or because "he would have played anyway". The only thing certain is that Somer bids (and thus earnings) went up signficantly during that lottery.

The integrity of the sandbox must be preserved at all costs, no third party or in game group should be given shiny stuff period. All items offered as gifts or prizes by any entity should be bought in game in isk or manufactured from minerals etc.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

Dunno the real answer to any of the questions posed... only did the blink thing one night for about 200mil isk with nada winners.

To me, it feels exactly like online poker.

I agree that these questions should be answered, but 10 ISK says that the ISDs will lock this thread within the next hour saying:
