Again, you must not mine, 2 hulks and a orca, your switching screens and dumping every minute. It's actually more work then :"Primary asshat1, secondary asshat2, primarary asshat1 secondary asshat2 " targete F1 repeat *yawn*

Dear god, you're switching screens and moving an icon from one bay to another every 60 seconds? How do you not lose it under all that pressure mon!

Regarding OP´s video

Totally mind blown, I have loved the X-Series for quite a while, confessing the first time I bought anything in STEAM was X3 and for a full whopping 60$ several years ago. Hours upon hours of fun.

Have been out of touch of gaming lately due to RL but X-Rebirth looks simply too great!

I need more! MUCH MORE of IT!
I know EVE has almost ZERO npc traffic in space for lag issues, but what I love about the X-Series is how space near stations and gates looks so alive EVERYWHERE. In EVE unless you close to a trading hub is a desert.

I usually pick secluded areas for play , but I wish stations spawned more than just a small transport ship train that gets destroyed sometimes by a random pirate frig.

A lot of that has to do with how ridiculously compressed space in the X-series has always been.

I mean, look at the standard grid in X3. The amount of stations and ship and random space junk asteroids that for some reason hovers just about planetary orbit…

It looks good, but it doesn't make much sense if you remember how empty space is, and how much distance there is even between “close” locations.

as scenery it helps with the immersion, but I guess there are aspects to SP economies that don't scale into mmo turf very well

at least in eve we're not the chosen who alone can save the universe from destruction Cool

You we're not??? Shocked

The way people act in GD youd think they were the second coming or something who alone have knowledge to save eve from destruction.

Nothing big changes after x years in EvE minining visual aspecst, still the same simple things ( lazor bzzz bzzz bzzzzzz)

Why ? Well new games are based on new grafic engines etc, espetialy single player games... EvE is 10 year old SF mmo. As we all know online games like EvE are designed for masses this mean, low grafic and less arcade-interactivr things, much less as single player games etc.

Its all depend game engine, devs ideas - goals - devs and player needs - serwer efficienty etc.

If it bleed we can kill it.

Well, the X series is 15 years old, and Rebirth uses DirectX 9.0.

And yes, you read that correctly.

Mining in low sec can be fun if you roll solo or truly small group it.

Mara Rinn wrote:
Two things that X does differently in mining, if you look at just the process rather than the mechanics:

  • Asteroid fields are huge
  • Asteroid fields are full of junk

The asteroid fields in X Rebirth are huge: the guy says that you will save time picking out just the most valuable rocks. In EVE, a typical asteroid field in hisec will fill an Orca or two. This represents about an hour of effort for a small mining fleet, and the effort of picking out just the most valuable rocks is not worth the return over simply vacuuming up the entire belt.

There is also a lot of junk in X Rebirth, as opposed to EVE. The asteroids in EVE will tend towards being equal in value in terms of ISK/hr since many miners will be mining only the ore that is most valuable per unit volume. To balance this out, CCP could remove the asteroid type from the overview, and add lots of junk. So rather than seeing "Asteroid (Veldspar)" you would simply see "Asteroid". Some of the asteroids will be "Gneiss" while others will be "Flawed Gneiss" (a Gneiss-type asteroid whose ore refines to nothing, or is un-refinable).

So by making asteroid belts huge and adding lots of "junk" asteroids, the intelligent miner who surveys the field first and then picks the most valuable asteroids to mine will be rewarded for paying attention. The "Hoover fleets" will become less profitable because they will be vacuuming up lots of junk.

Ideally belts would respawn randomly, rather than having the same asteroid reappearing in the same spot. This would prevent people bookmarking points from where to cherry-pick the very best rocks in a belt immediately after each downtime.

We don't need first-person-shooter style mining in EVE, but X Rebirth does have some great ideas on how to make interactive mining more rewarding, and especially rewarding for fleets who have a mixture of surveyors and miners.

Definitely worth quoting.

Give them 6 months. Egosoft and the modding community always deliver.

"Business" NPC traffic is amazing. I hope to see something like that in persistent universes in Star Citizen and Elite (Rebirth is a bit disappointing to play atm)

Can't be bothered to do more than skim through the OP and a few posts. Just wanted to weigh in here. I've had X Rebirth for around 2 weeks now. It's nearly unplayable. It's a damn shame. This game had such potential. That's all.

Yes it is. I t also is innovative despite the franchise being 15 years old, it's daring and ambitious despite it's made by a studio 1/10th the size of CCP, it aims to offer a full experience in a compelling SF universe, and it can easily eat hundreds of hours in comfortable slices between RL chore #1 and RL chore #2 without punishing you for it.

All the above, quite unlike EVEr The Same.

Exactly a different type of game with a different style/type of game play.

Keep updating it, or just wait a few months until there is a clear judgement of what can be fixed through modding and what is hardcode-broken. The spirits still are high, as all in all the X series as a cult game make EVE look mainstream, because bearing with Egosoft's trainwreck launches takes a lot of faith.

Honestly, I expected a much worse community status than it actually is, and many talented modders are working hard to dig out the magnificent game that is hidden behind what Egosoft was able to deliver.

There's only so much you can ask from a company smaller than CCP's WoD team.

BTW, anyone interested, here is the official progression thread: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=352790

Patch 1.19 was released successfully and 1.20 is looking good although a expected feature has been delayed due to unforeseen issues.
