new player and planet colonies

hello, everyone.
I just started playing eve after watching some youtube videos, and i must say i'm a little overwhelmed. The thing that interested me the most about the game was the planet colonies feature, and i have been having a bit of trouble figuring out what i need to train to do that. can someone please help me out?

Planetary Interaction Tutorial (PI)

It should be fairly obvious that all the skill related to PI are under the Planetary Management section of skills. If you don't see this section because you have none of them trained then try changing up your character sheet skill display settings.

Either way you can find them in that section of the market.

As for what things you can build try looking at this PDF
