As a new polayer did you ever join any fleets? Would joining a fleet help you?

Last time i was in a corp it was pretty fun. But i have not played for 2 years and just came back to check it out. Corps were fun until war deck ruined them. Having other corps declare war for no reason annoys the heck out of me because of my limited game time. I like to run missions and mine and being stuck in a station is not what i pay for. So for me right now corps are a no . I remember how fun it used to be though. I used to have a blast with those guys.
