Fun promotions are not something to nerd rage about.

CCP releasing prizes through a lottery of their own would be a "fun promotion."
SOMER Blink releasing rare ships they already have in possession would be a "fun promotion."
Dev spawning limited edition items or giving out very high-value prizes through a group not everyone has access to or wants to associate with is blatant favoritism.

Yes but if you read the QnA that was postered on the Somerblink thread.. you will see that CCP decided to do it through Blink becasue they do not have their own lottery system set up.. Sure they could make one.. or they could just use one that is already in place..

Also I don't see this is favoritism in the least.. if you have a corp that helps support the EvE comunity and have a proven track record then CCP may deem your Corp worthy to hand out limited edition prizes

As SomerBlink is the bigest and have done alot for the comunity they CCP has reconised this and gave them prizes to hand out.. this isnt the first time they have done it. when Blink hit 1quad isk payouts CCP handed over 4 Collectors Eds and 4 Faction Scorps and there was no where near as big of cry as this..

and TBH if it wasnt for the ships that CCP chose to use as prizes non of this crying would of been happening in the first place.. If anything this has probably been a huge boost for Blink in general for all this extra talk about them

They're not just handing out prizes.
They're profiting greatly from people who play their lotteries during these events hoping to gain these prizes.
It's made worse by the fact that CCP put it in a devblog, which is not really any different from saying "hey, go spend money here so you might actually win something!"

This. A little surprised how many people don't see a problem with this...

My gameplay is greatly affected and the universe is crumbling because of SOMER blink.

Everybody is immortal, unicorns are seen amongst the stars and my girlfriend refuses to make me sandwiches.

The world is coming to an end.

Oh wait, it's not.
But that is pretty much the essence of all this QQ about CCP's involvement with SOMER.

Don't approve? Don't play it.
I approve of SOMER and the little things CCP did in the shapes of prizes.

Can we all move along now?

Thank you.

Everybody has access to it.
1 day old, 10 years old it doesn't matter.

You however CHOOSE not to participate.

This is NOT favoritism. EVERYBODY has a fair shot at winning this.
If the latter was NOT the case, then yes, it would be favoritism.

What about all the best rats/ores/plexes only to be found in nullsec?
CCP isnt killing off the biggest alliances, so everyone can have access to it freely and unharassed.
Is that favoritism too?
No, those who choose not to risk going there do so consciously.

Stop using 'expensive' words out of context to enforce a point that lacks any form of validity.

*Wake up call* there will only be a select few winners.
Somerblink itself is a lottery, they make some ISKies running such a show.
Will they walk away with the prizes themselves?
NO, they're excluded from their own prizepools.
Inb4 "SOMER is a scam" - please go QQ elsewhere if that's your opinion. I've seen enough of those people lately. Grow up.

This is just blatantly false. If somer has banned someone from their site, it's impossible for that party to participate.

You support somer blink, who make trillions of ISK off their players via rake?

This is your claim:

'Dear Somer, I acted bad to such a degree that I got banned from your site. Everybody else still has access, even though I know they didn't misbehave. This is favoritism'.

Or:

'Dear CCP, my ship got killed and because I loved it like my sister, I threatened my aggressor IRL. Now I am banned and he isn't. this is favoritism.'

See how stupid you are saying that?

I support that which entertains me, despite them making a profit or not.

So now somer is vouched by CCP to such degree that they have equal rights to decide who can and can not take part in eve online events? I mean sure both of them have banned people on a whim without explanation but come on now...
Also comparing auto-refreshing a website to IRL threats is kind of far fetched.

CCP, put me down for a big 'ol thumbs up on the subject of "Blink 1.0".

If you think CCP showing favouritism to one group of Eve Online players is acceptable, you are in a tiny, tiny minority, and this is not the game for you.

This is not a signature.

You're missing the point entirely.

SOMER Blink still makes billions upon billions of ISK in profit. Off a $0 investment.

Meanwhile, every single other entity in the game world must evaluate risk and reward and put down some sort of collateral (be it time or ISK) to achieve such profits.

See the problem now?

Sure, everyone has access. Just throw as much ISK as possible at Somer.

Let's assume for a moment my account is banned on cogdev.net/blink. How do I participate in a lottery that requires me to use that account?

And to mention it again, this is only one of the many issues with the whole thing.
