CCP stiffing everyone bar the US players is nothing new.

Over the years they've changed UK players from paying in pounds sterling to euros and back to pounds sterling again - all because they could make more money by doing this. It wasn't that they were losing money by trading in pounds sterling, they could just make more money by forcing us to pay in a foreign currency - despite having UK offices which technically means they broke the law.

The "shop" of course is based in the US and has totally delusional "shipping charges" outside continental USA/North America.

Don't let it bother you as its nothing new and nor will it change. Its just CCP sticking it to you because they can.

At least the Europeans have CCP selling something on their dedicated amazon sites. If you search Eve Online in amazon.ca, the results consist of two fan-fiction books, a collectable, and an ISK Strategy guide.

I can entertain the possibility that this is due to some logistical problem with amazon and its different divisions, but then why not just have the sale on your website directly? You're losing money, CCP; I was about to buy way more PLEX than I need, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

It's more likely to be an issue with contract law in the various applicable jurisdictions. (Cue "juris my diction" joke.)

This is pretty lame from CCP, are they expecting their only future customers to be from the US? Europe and UK stay with rip-off prices but US gets the same in game item for half the price. I see someone posted about VAT, I'm pretty sure last time I check the VAT that it wasn't @ 100%.

FIRST, I agree it is lame

Looking for any Reason in the face of no reason, I raised the VAT issue elsewhere,

but I can't imagine it being that high either - but it is almost certainly _some_ of the difference

From googling 20% would be the best guess. (thats the default rate and the VAT is applied to foreign based goods or services provided to member countries... any tax has tons of complications to it so that is still a "guess" but not one pulled from thin air

20% of 50 is 10 = Something that cost $50 in the US would need to cost $60 in europe to cover the a guestimated 20% VAT

20% is not nearly 100% so, yeah , the VAT in itself isn't a satisfying answer.

--

Now, the question is if there are other fee's or limitations in the EU which would narrow the difference futher?

One Vague speculation:

- I have a vague impression from numerous more specific antidotes, that some Euorpean countries take a different look on certain types of promotional pricing.

Is there any remote chance that "limited time only" discounting for services that will revert to a higher price is deemed an anti-consumer practice in Europe ?

Un-intended consequences?

That would not even remotely explain a difference in higher base rates.

---

Second Vague Speculation

-- I wonder if Europeans think more US players are likely to Buy Plex and sell them for isk ?
--- hooking groups of US friends at lower cost to fleece the fat sheep amoung them when he buys 40 plex for a super carrier?
-- that wouldn't make if fair.... still, it would be how business is done in the US.

Amazon US-only sale was enough to drop PLEX price by 40+ millions. I could be pissed off if I were waiting for traditional mid-October price peak to sell a stash of PLEXes.

Your all barking up the wrong tree.......

amazon.de search on plex + eve

28.89€ = 39 US $

difference is 1.50 us or 1€

What is the fuss about? it is worth the extra euro not to have to live over there

I just checked with amazon.de on their website and they do not seem to have any restrictions on which country.

Sorry to all for the false info.

I just didn't actually buy any but it does appear that I can. I have to agree with this the problem is probably with Amazon and not CCP.

What I would really like is Plex for cash. If CCP could do a deal with Itunes I could buy those cards in the supermarket.

No harm no faul. CCP has a international game, and when having PLEX sales they should have a international supplier of PLEX so not only a select few can reap the benefits.

They should look at their own list:
https://secure.eveonline.com/etc.aspx

Cross out retailers that cant deliver internationally and have a PLEX sale there. Sounds easy enough.

Sale seems to have hit the Amazon.de now, €57,75 for 6 plex. Still can't buy any though, since I'm not from Germany. Stop discriminating me CCP Blink

They should just distribute plex through secure.eveonline.com if Amazon is not willing to open their channels.
