Regional unfairness in pricing

US residents have an extremely good offer from a partner reseller that EU and UK and AUS and everyone else can't redeem.

The level of disparity is significant enough that I believe it requires discussion and justification.

If you buy PLEX from CCP and billed in the UK, it would cost you $145. (£90) So 6 PELX for $75 is actually stiffing UK players (and other Euros) for very nearly double the price.

But, but, but taxes... right?

Umm.. no. UK VAT at 20% (which is questionable as lots of "electronic services" are not charged VAT - would need a specialist who knows)
$75 amazon 6 PLEX (£46)
+ VAT (£9.20)
= £55.20 or $88.42

So where's the other $56 dollars and change go? Fifty six dollars? That's a lot.

People mostly don't mind when regional variations are small and justifiable (like an extra few bucks in taxes) but when one region is being screwed over with no logical or valid reason, people get angry.

Amazon has international presence - if you're going to partner with them, ensure they provide the offers to your customer base - which is international. Why does amazon.co.uk not have 6 PLEX offers up for £49.99? Or amazon.de for 56 Euros?

CCP made great efforts with re-balancing account billing so that geographically diverse regions pay roughly equivalent in local currency for their subs. So there's no excuse for this.

The collectors edition suffers the same thing - being equivalent of $50 more if you live outside the US.

Not very fair is it?

Agreed, it should be the same price wherever you are. Being based in Iceland i thought CCP would aknowledge this.

Its amazon thing. Being from europe and using amazon quite often, i encounter this all the time.
Either price can be different, or some items will not be available to you.

This is amazon policy. I very much doubt CCP can do anything about that. You have to raise these kind of questions with Amazon support.

Fair enough. I am however sure CCP knew about this BEFORE they selected amazon.

Don't forget that there's a reason CCP chose Amazon to sell PLEX through, they could quite easily sell this offer via their website.

*Original thread got locked for 'Rumour Mongering' which I'm not entirely sure what rumours were mongered!

If this IS true, what about the price difference with the Collectors Ed? And why not just put the PLEX price reduction on their own website?

Even if they did. Amazon is one of the largest shops out there. And having your stuff sold there with recommendations, etc is a good thing for CCP.
Who cares how that shop is handling its regional customers and what promotions is it making. Its not like you, as a customer, suddenly have to pay more, you are only not eligible for this regional promotion.

You don't select amazon, you realize using anything else would be short changing yourself... and you play by their rules or you don't plat at all.

When your the biggest outlet available, you make the rules.

Like this game its not about fair or unfair.

If you buy 2 plex from ccp it costs £29.99.
If you buy a 60 day GTC from evetimecode.com it costs roughly £21 after currency conversion. Been like this for over a year so far.

You're welcome.

Isn't it possible to buy from Amazon US?

Especially as you don't need to care about shipping

Wanted to add on here aswel, so If this is just an amazon thing why is it for US players to buy from EvE acc. management it's only $99 for 6 this equates to £61 Ours is £85 this is not down to tax.. £23.99 is a big difference could nearly purchase 2 more for this price, £5-10 and I wouldnt be bothered, Like I stated earlier if it was the other way round the U.S community would rant and rave all day long and probably get listened to aswel.

Nope. You have to link your EVE account to your Amazon account and your payment card and then it tells you you can't. order this outside the US.
