this idea is incarna-level stupid. guess it does have an impact if good designers leave and some EA F2P guys are hired.

This is probably just grooming of the playerbase for the coming F2P-P2W days. Get everyone used to the idea of approaching some external site to plonk down currency and get something special. Today it's ISK...

They'll have another drawing after this one, with some other items.

Then they'll just make it a regular thing (CCP-sponsored "Blinks").

Next thing you know you'll be able to buy into CCP Blinks using Aurum instead of ISK.

Then they'll eliminate that bothersome middle step of converting PLEX to Aurum and just let you buy in using straight-up cash.

After that it's a hop skip and a jump to a CCP cash shop.

Finally they'll start posting "Caldari Navy High-Power Missiles - Special Edition," with 10% extra damage and flight time, and there we are.

Good times!

I couldn't give a rats ass that they're adding more guardian vexors.

However, the fact that they are giving them exclusively to a single player group to distribute as they see fit bothers the hell out of me now that I think about it.

Very reminiscent of T20 tbh. Either have CCP stage an event "in honor of blink" where all accounts randomly have a chance to win one, or don't have the event at all.

why not make it a Xmas gift.. everyone gets ONE ship to pick from all give away ships. be it tourney ships or event ships, how ever accounts must be a certain age to get certain ships.. the older the account the better the list to choose from.

IE your account must be the same age as when the ship was given out originally .

this will help stop people trying to farm certain ships with trial or new accounts.

In exchange for Blink getting substantially increased traffic, massive amounts of ISK as a result, plus more $$ from GTC referrals which their players are awarded credits for, Blink is sponsoring a few billion in prizes in blink credits (lmao) and PLEX for PvP tournament participants.

This deal is clearly not skewed entirely in Blink's favor!

Adding new (historic) ships is one thing, but adding them via a player-run-website smacks of favoritism.

Couldn't agree more. The fact these ships are being given out to a select few players to do as they please with is what generates an issue with me. That is complete and utter Bull S***. IF rare ships are going to come back into the game, CCP should be the ONLY ones doing it, not other players.

Hey guys just give this player-run entity more ISK and you'll have a better chance of winning these things we're having them give away!

So wait... CCP gave them items for free, and they are earning ISK from that? That totally make sense. And not at all the same as just giving free isk to players.

Reintroducing those specific ships is reaching back to a time long past. The Gold Magnate and the Guardian Vexor are not simply valuable in terms of rarity, ISK value, or their special abilities, but rather for what they represent. They're relics of a bygone time, a time capsule in a game where its players erase the monuments that came before. If they're reintroduced, then that property is gone, cheapened by this recent knockoff. Icons so revered for those nostalgic for times that will never come again will have this property erased.

EVE is special because of the fleeting nature of these moments in time. The knowledge that all will become dust: ships, empires, players, allegiances. Those few things that endure we worship because of this exception to the rule. Like museum pieces, valued not for their monetary value but because of their window into the past. Leave these relics alone.

(It's worth noting that the value of these ships will be greatly diminished, among all who possess one, new and old, the moment CCP reintroduces them. Since so much of its value is derived from its age, a winner receiving one will not be getting the ship spoken of throughout the years, but a different ship, instantly changed in the minds of everyone because of the knowledge that are now made in 2013, not 2003.)

NO, just no CCP.
Event ships are just that, the mark an EVENT, a signel point in time where something happened, to bring them back for a lottery is just silly, if your gonna do this whats your next step? selling Apotheosis bpos on the open market?

CCP gives prizes to support all sorts of player-run events. This is not ground-breaking.

3+2 new copies of rare ships is not going to ruin the game.

Personally I look forward to taking a shot at winning a Guardian Vexor.

Hell Eve-Vegas itself is a player-organized event. Why not ***** and moan about CCP sending devs out to support it and spending valuable money and time that could be used developing features!

One having the devs at an event is helpful to keep their business going as it shows they care so there is no bitching about that stupid point.

Giving out prizes that are special ships that have been given out for past events is the problem not them giving out prizes that are new. Its not all that they are giving out the ships fully either. It does kill the lore, but the biggest problem is giving it to a group of people that already screw people over with that run a ISK making machine.
