Q6, So how can you be assured that SOMER Blink won’t just make sure all of this goes to their alts?

A6, I can’t. Once again we go back to the trust issue. Having worked with SOMER for some time now I asked myself, ’Could they game this so they gets the cool stuff?’ Yep, they absolutely could. ‘Can we prevent it?’ No, we absolutely can’t. ‘Do I believe they would cheat to win it for themselves?’ I genuinely do not believe they will. SOMER Blink have been one of the most philanthropic groups in EVE.

It is safe to say that they can buy anything that is for sale and money is no object yet, despite that, everyone I have interacted with there is humble, gracious and honest. I honestly believe that this blast will be fun and fair for all who enter. All prizes awarded will be done so using Chribba’s Dice.

not happy about that part at all. No player corp should be given exclusive rights for distribution of special items in Eve whatsoever. Doesnt matter wether its Somer, Goons, or any other player driven corp within the sandbox. The worrying part is CCP admit that Somer could fix it, and that CCP could do nothing to stop it. That speaks volumes to me.

Wow, CCP decision making CAN get worse; I would have said not possible but seems they have supernatural ability at fail.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

Hey CCP, nice idea!

Since you don't play favouritism apparently, can you please spawn me the following:

4× Tenth Anniversary Collector's Editions (I guess you gotta post these? That's ok)
2× Golden Magnate
4× Ishukone Watch Scorpion
3× Guardian-Vexor
4× SPZ-3 "Torch" Laser Sight Combat Ocular Enhancer
4× Looking Glass Monocle Interface (left/gold) (tbh one of each is also fine)

I may or may not want to give them as prizes.

As I wrote in the other thread, this is just stupid.

Are we about to enter a new era of :CCP: and :awesome:?

quick and easy solution: pull these rewards and use new limited editions

or give them some of those ATXI cruisers, i'm sure PL won't mind you deluting their value just as you apparantly assume the guaridan vexor owners dont

I have to repeat myself. CCP, this idea is so unnecessary. Plz focus on other more important topics. I think you're causing much rage with that action. Leave it as it is. The Guardian-Vexor would lose its "Holy Grail" Status and the Gold Magnate his legend.

CCP have always said Special Edition ships are buy at investors risk.
They will still be ultra rare, so the collectors bragging rights will be intact even.

And CCP have also said that true Limited Edition ships like AT ships will not be re-released.

Note.... Limited vs Special. Two different things.

CCP

Do this and you irreparably damage something core to EVE that I hold very dear.

Please do not re-release legendary ships on a whim like that, for any reason, ever.
Part of the appeal of EVE is the fact things are finite.

The Gold Magnate may have been destroyed, but it is immortal, its story is engraved in the collective memory of EVE. Stories like that are part of the game. Re-releasing uniques diminishes their value in more than one way.

Reintroducing a ship of such status is a grave insult to both the winner of the ship back then, and the person who went out and died in it.

I feel the same way about the guardian-vexors.

And I'm not even going to begin about handing such extremely valuable items to a third party.

I think its nice ccp adds a little spice to the game, though I would have prefered to be able to find BPC's for the ships in some new exploration sites or even LP store items Smile

I always wanted to tru the guardian vexor when i was a noob and pretty much gave up on the idea a while back.
This feels like good news to someone who hasnt played from the beginning.

Idiotic. There is no other word to describe it.

If you want to hand out unique ships, create unique ships to hand out. Don't ruin the uniqueness of ships already in the game, even if they're so unique they've been lost forever. In fact, “lost forever” is the best reason to not do so since there is no legendary status that will ever beat that and since no game will ever offer the same.

Give Somer some Bronze Magnates and Steward Vexors if you have to, but let the historical ships be historical.

We can't think of real content so lets just favor one group of players and give away rare ships. CCP spent all Alliance tournament talking about how ships are really destroyed. I guess the small print was until they decide to play favorites and give them away.

The Gold Magnate made me feel like decisions in EVE have consequences. Now i feel like CCP is turning away from that with many recent decisions, and it is making me worried.

Ten years ago, there was an event considerably more interesting than this one. At this event, the Gold and Silver magnates were given out. Please don't undermine the efforts of those players who won these ships, and the history that goes with them, by giving them out in a lottery. It's probably the worst distribution method because it requires no special skills or talents. Besides, if you go back to what happened in 2003, almost ten years to the day, you'll find that CCP's communication then indicated that the Gold Magnate was a one-of-a-kind. Since then, several pieces of communication have indicated that no more would be released.

Why is it that some CCP employees have no sense of the history of the game? Nor are they aware of the significance which certain players and groups have created around events that took place in the past or objects in the game world? Further, why must events be so bland as to involve winning what would probably rank in the top 5 of the most expensive ships in Eve simply by entering your name in a pot?

Re-introducing items that were supposed to be unique is a bad idea. It breaks the 'harshness' aspect of the game, it breaks lore, it breaks the actions-consequence nature of eve. If you want to do something silly, introduce silver or platinum magnate or Hello Kitty Armageddon. Just don't reintroduce anything. Even I as a relatively new player can see that.

Bad, bad idea.

Turning EVE History into dust is a very bad idea.
Those ships were and are rarities and must remain as such.
I for one am not at all happy with what is going down with re-introducing these ships.
No CCP, please, be honest and stay true to EVE.
