As others have mentioned before me, OP; remember that skillpoints are the sum total of how much time you have spent training skills, but they provide no indication as to which skills you have trained.

Take my example: When I first started playing (I think this was a little before "Incursion" came out.) I made a "main" character that by the time I was done using had 3 million skillpoints in everything from PI to railguns.

By your logic, my 3 million skillpoint former "main" would have my newer character dead to rights. I could have completely annihilated my former "main" in a fight when this character had a mere 900k skillpoints.

The reason for your predicament is simple: you cant fit well on your higher skillpoint toon because you (probably) didn't train any adequate fitting skills!

Which categories you decide to train matter. Choosing to focus your training and build up a good core skillset of basic capacitor skills can mean a whole lot of difference between a frustrating experience and smooth sailing.

But no matter what you plan on doing or training, having a core skillset of which to base it all off of is a MUST.

Evemon has a great compare feature. Bring up both side by side and check where the differences lie.

If you put your skill points into one thing it tends to do it better.Anything else is sadly not going to work til you spend the time training it.

Topic locked, as it devolved into flaming and less than useless posts.

OP: You have different skills trained on your lower skill point char that allows you to fit more things than the higher skillpoint char.

Think of it this way, which is better suited to design a rocket, a PhD or a Bachelor's degree?
Answer is: It depends on what the PhD and BS are in. If you have a BS in Rocket Science, you will be much better at building a rocket than someone with a PhD in Philosophy.
