Amarr's answer to the HM nano Drake

Hi,

I want to ask here about experiences with Amarr ships vs. the HM nano Drake in small scale PvP. This is no whine, I flew the Drake alot and I like it as it is. I just look for opinions how to fight said Drake best using Amarr ships.

Please note: this is about small scale PvP only. No blobs. So assume 2 Amarr ships vs. 2 HM nano Drakes. Also I want to keep it reasonable cheap. The Drake is a BC...I know a Legion wouldn't have much problems with it. I look for something comparable.

Options I see:

(1) Kiting nano Harbinger:
+ faster than the Drake
+ more damage when in close range
+ damage type matches good to the Drakes shield tank
- less tank, a nano shield Harb should have problems to survive long enough under focussed fire of two HM Drakes to kill even one Drake

(2) Armor buffer Harbinger:
+ more EHP than the nano Drake
+ more damage when in close range
+ no cap issues because of cap boosters
- slower, until in range a HM Drake does quite a bit damage while the Harb does less or even none

(3) Amor buffer Maller
+ enough EHP to survive a while against 2 HM Drakes
? sig tanking of missiles
- slow, a dedicated tackler is needed - which reduces the damage output of the Amarr gang
- low damage...but maybe enough when focussed (2 Maller vs 1 Drake)

--- more expensive stuff ---

(4) Armor Zealot
+ enough damage in close range
? sig tanking?
- slow

(5) Nano Zealot
+ enough damage in close range
+ good range to disengage if something goes wrong
+ faster than the Drake
- not enough tank to survive long enough under focussed fire of two HM Drakes

(6) Dual Rep Sacrilege
+ good damage which hits a Drake with full effect
+ enough tank to survive focussed fire of 2 HM Drakes
- slow, close range

Ofc it's situational. For instance if the Amarr gang uses one tackler and one heavy armored damage dealer the slowness of armor tanks isn't such an issue. But I'm not sure..we did some fights on Sisi...even when using an armor Harbinger it's a very tight fight. When the fight starts with some range a HM Drake does constant damage while the Harbinger does not. This eats up the Harbinger's better buffer. We had some good results with single repped + plated Harbingers though.

I guess tactic is an important element here. It's not about EHP vs EHP and DPS vs DPS only. An armored damage dealer dropped on top a Drake should be much better than trying to slowbloat in range while taking constant damage meanwhile. But thats not possible always...sometimes the fight comes to you ^^
