Hi,

In the next hours we are running tests for automated account mirroring on Singularity. We cannot promise anything at this point. This tries to update your account data on Singularity with the latest changes on TQ. Anything on the characters (including skills) should not be affected. If you had a different password on Sisi then you might have to switch using the password from TQ.

Please reply here if you experience any new problems with your accounts there. For the case of sensitive information send me an EVE-mail (but please do not include passwords).

Woot, now we're testing like it's 1999! Good luck and hope it goes well.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Can you expand on that a bit? What data should change? What should I keep looking at?

Then you say:

So the changes that might or might not occur pertain to data that is not visible in-game or should I say in-character (as opposed to out of character). This data includes password, account expiry, payment method and similar. Did I get that right?

Correct, included are for example the password, status of the account (active, expired, banned, ...), expiry, and type of the account. New accounts and transferred characters will probably work - but I'm not 100% sure on those.

Is this at least a first step to having skills copied over automatically too? No clue why you guys fight it so much.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

It seems like the first account mirror finished without bigger problems, but it looks like transferred characters were not covered by this. Please report here (or per EVE-mail) if you experience any problems.

Indeed. This is a very nice side-effect. Cool

This would need quite some developer time and I personally would prefer if this would be used in fixing bugs or for new features for TQ.

You obviously know more about how the player files are structured, but I find it hard to believe that copying over a portion of the file is somehow easier than the entire file. You're pulling some data from the file, copying it to SISI overwriting the SISI copy, but doing that with the entire file takes more developer time?

As far as I know we are actually re-playing the change-log in this case and are not copying the data 1 to 1 . CCP PrismX would know the details about this.

Copying everything is being done in a full mirror, which we will keep doing every few months. Copying only the skills would probably be quite messy - at least as far as I understand the data structure (but I'm not a DB programmer).

I dont know much about this, but wouldn't it be possible to write a really really long script that would copy TQ, delete all POS's , remove sov, seed modules, etc. Then have that run every few months automatically making the job easier for you guys long term?

Then once a few months CCP would experience downtime as the QA department murders the intranet and hardware bandwidth :P

Apologies if I'm being dense here, but does switching to an automated mirroring method mean Sisi will be mirrored more frequently, and if so is this going to make supercapital production on the test server impossible?

I'm slightly curious, what are the reasons for doing this atall, I cannot see how people who are inactive on TQ having their accounts inactive on Sisi really does to benefit the testing of future releases, the only reason I can think of is to force those who don't sub their TQ accounts, and just play Sisi to be forced into paying their subscriptions again. I may be wrong and if I am please feel free I would love to know the actual reason for this, but atleast to me, just looks like it's nothing more than a moneygrab.

What will be the frequency of these incremental mirrors.
And are there plans to fix the handling of transferred chars.

What you are describing is basically a full mirror. Most things for mirrors are scripted, but not everything. And yes, it is a quite heavy on our infrastructure (which is one of the reasons for keeping them seldom).

Full mirrors might be slightly less frequent, if the automated account mirroring works as expected. But we will still be doing full mirrors every few months.

Leviitiicus Industries wrote:

Yeah, only the account itself is copied - without your characters. Feel free to create new characters on Singularity. We understand, that this is not perfect, but it should be at least better than having no account at all.

Theodora Humphrey wrote:

Frequency: We are looking into running this once per day, but this is not decided so far.
Character transfers: Unknown so far. I don't know if this would only need a small fix or if this would be something bigger.

Not everyone wants their skills on Sisi automatically replaced with their skills on TQ, especially those who recently took part in mass tests.
