Stargates used to be much louder and more exciting, too.

The original stargate sounds are still in the client. I found them digging around with the stuff extractor thingy. There's a lot more sounds either long dead or never used in there too.

lol, someone should remix all the old eve sounds into a cool track.. that'd be.. interesting.. xD

Yeah. This video brings back some good memories. Sounds more like you are being dematerialized and being shot light-years across space. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vTmzNeJMkk

But I'm not really that fussed about the sounds. Sure I would like them to go back to what they were when they were epic, but I'm not really offended by the newer ones either.

Oh wow never relised how much I missed that sound until now.

Okay so sounds aside does anyone have any other feedback on my idea? I want it to get noticed if you think it's a good idea! CCP?

The new sounds do feel a little timid don't they...

OT: It's tiny bits of polish like this that adds just that much more immersion, like aligning gates to their actual system.

Gates are awful, don't waste time on them! :) Get rid of gates, gah, horrible things.

Meh, its an integral part of the game! Always has been and always will be. -1 for messing with the gate concept.

+1 for buffing the effects.

Tbh I'd rather CCP spend time and resources on improving functional features than wasting time on "pretty" if it detracts from making EVE work better.

mmh agreed, but I'm sure committing one or two people to improving gate effects would not take too long.. also, things like gate activations are effects we have to see all the time, sometimes in excess of 100 times a day, it's always there, something staring us in the face all the time.

Make the mundane things we see all the time prettier! you did a good job on warp, now gates! pl0x?

I'd really like to see some scaling on the gate jump effect. The larger the ship the more massive and powerful it both sounds and looks.

This^ some nice ideas here.. keep them coming.. I think the people responsible for this need to just go all out and make it as EPIC as they can.. CCP so often seems to make things adequate but not AWESOME.. unlike the warp effect.. that one was awesome lol

I believe between Rev and Trinity, there was this really cool effect where the ships would disinigrate when jumping. It didn't last very long though.

found it, it was the same as the old cloaking effect

yea that was interesting, suited jumping, but not cloaking. Cloaking is fine as it is.. this could be used, or a more awesome variant of it, for gate jumps to replace that god-aweful fish eye wormhole web jump drive effect thing they used for EVERYTHING lol
