Hey! So, I started playing EVE a while back, stopped and came back. I want to know what to actually do. My play through so far has been just mining and a bit of exploration. I don't know what I should aim for. I don't know enough about the game. I have looked around for all sorts of guides, but non really answer my questions.
I mine, but what do I do then with the income that I will get? Do I use the ISK to go and get a frigate? Then what?
I'm sort of stumped by the steep learning curve. I know all the basics, I just don't know what to do with them.

What are the main activities in this game?

To sum it up, I just don't know what to aim for!
Hopefully I put this thread in the right place.

good you ask, the sole purpose of new pilots in this game should be to destroy goonswarm, you need to make it your one and only task, it will give you great meaning in all what you do, you mine to get a better ship, you learn skills just to assure you can blast them harder every day, go out there, set course to VFK, and engage every goon you see, you will loose ships, you will die

but you will have a mission, you will get better and we will succeed, and someday when we read the news that all of goonswarm was wiped out, the biggest alliance in gaming history, you know you have been part of it, you have been the forerunner

I would suggest that you look for a good corporation/alliance and make their goals your own.

This is a terrible single-player game

Mr. Forever I am genuinely curious what the Goonswarm Federation has done to you personally to earn this internet enmity?

It depends on you, really.

If you have the mentality of a 12year old, you do whatever griefing you can get away with to pad your killboard stats.

If, on the other hand, you are reasonably adult, then you have a wide open world to discover and make yourself a part of.

aim at hating the other guy.
aim at outsmarting the other guy.
aim at laughing at the other guy.
aim at the other guy's ship, the other guy's pod, the other guy's tears.
aim at making him you worthy enough of getting hate-mail.
aim at ******* **** up, causing bedlam and mayhem.
aim at being the most magnificent, inglorious ******* bastard.

and most of all, aim at being all of this and getting away with it, in style.

the world is your silly putty, and nothing stops you of making phalluses out of it, and throwing at somebody's else face.

Firstly, do you like gaming solo or with friends?

EVE University is a good place to learn and make friends. Finding a good corporation with good peeps is an excellent goal if your a social person. I have been with the same friends pretty much since the beginning of Eve for me, over 2 1/2 years now. I've made many new friends by venturing into low and null sec after meeting people in incursions.

Chatting in local, even starter systems could also help you find people to play with. Heck, you could even start your own corporation. Get voice chat and be picky about who you keep in your corp. Anyone that doesn't fit your game style, say goodbye too. Talking to older pilots can really help

Getting on battleclinic.com and looking at ship fits can really help. learning to pvp is essential IMO. Others don't believe it is necessary, but if you really want to experience the game this is a good path.

It can take a few days for some players to find their place in EVE, it can take a few years for some other ones.
There's no best activity in EVE, and no one can tell you what you will like.
Give a try to a bit of everything, both in solo and in group.
