Can't get away from blaster boats

I'm having a problem with blaster boats getting really close to me and engaging me while I can't escape them on an AB. I've tried an MWD but often they have a warp scrambler so they jam me and kill me while I'm I can't escape and I can't out DPS them with present skills.

Whats the best thing to do to avoid this?

The short answer is don't let them get close.

The longer answer is that you need situational awareness. You need to know the ships on grid and know how they are likely to be fitted. Use the MWD before you are locked down, not after.

A flight of EC drones in the bay can't be overlooked for bad situations and has hauled my ass out of the fire on more than one occasion. Then again, I am one of the guys in the blaster boats. Nothing like getting up close and personal to send someone back to their home station.

Hmm rvb?

If flying amarr try the tormentor, if flying mimitar try a td slaser.

I'm sure someone in rvb can help you with fits.

I don't really use this alt much since I can't afford to train it and my main. so he's REALLY undertrained.

There's not "one way" of dealing with it, situations can be very different if you're roaming lowsec, jumping everything in a RVB fleet, etc.
In some situations it will be keeping range from the start, in others it can be performing a slingshot with a MWD and in other situations it will be avoiding the fight because your boat isn't the good choice to engage a blaster boat.

Seconding the webifier.
Several minmatar ships have bonus to web range.
In frigate PVP 10km is more than sufficient to keep people from closing in on you.

Not a forum alt.

T3 with a 100mn AB (and Fed navy web :). Overheat and/or link boosts for the win.

In an emergency "I need to GTFO" situation against a blaster boat", overheat your AB (50% more thrust) and manual fly in the direction opposite to which they are flying.

What type of ships are you flying? This isn't specific enough for me to help you.

If you can't beat em, you could always join them. Caldari frigate 4 and small hybrids 4 is 2 days, so you could just fly Merlins with Caldari Navy Antimatter ammo. That will let you see how people counter you and see how the people flying blaster boats are thinking when they try to catch you.

If we're talking about frigates, try a rocket breacher with ab, web, scram, MASB. You scram/web the enemy and kite at the edge of scram range, letting you apply perfect damage with your rockets while they apply crappy second falloff damage with their blasters.

Hi. We're here to help new players, not smug about having zero creativity, hours upon hours of carebearing + the lack of personality to have anything better to do, and an unjustifiable sense of self importance.

I'm not going to say you should never post again and make sure not to pass on your genetics, but you should never post anywhere I read. Also you should make sure not to pass on your genetics.

Navigation skills, overdrive injectors, snakes. Range control skills should be your priority.

Plenty of good suggestions,

You might also consider defensive modules of different varieties such as jammers or tracking disrupters.

But especially with blasters you should remember they have awful range, so kiting and not getting shot at all is always better than taking blasters in the face.

If you -are- getting shot, then you can either hurt them more than they are hurting you, have a better tank than them, or use modules or drones that will lessen incoming damage.

An ab, scram and web should do the trick. Just keep at 6-7 kms range so they don't get out of scram range. Also blaster boats are very vulnerable to cap warfare so try and fit a neut or a NOS in your utility high if you have room.

If you let a blaster boat web and scram without you doing at least the same, you are pretty screwed. work on not getting into that situation but if you are in it your only hope is to neut him out or TD him.
