Got bored and looked at eve-offline.net

It seems that activity on tranquility is declining again if you look at the "all time" graph

I know that eve-offline isn't the perfect indicator of where EVE is going. But I am curious as to why this may be the case.

Perhaps actually showing what the winter expansion will be could boost your sales :D

I hope they dip to 0, until you fix this TOS horsecrap.

Eve is dying.

The bigger question is, and I don't think CCP has the number, is the sub base growing in depth or breadth?

I think one of the only real in-game indicators for that would be to examine a snapshot of the amount of people posting in the rookie channels today. and compare that to a year ago.

Frankly, I am hoping it is in depth, and the new outside people CCP are bringing in will slap some null sec dev's upside the head, and start reversing the damage done to the majority of the player base for the benefit of the small group of null sec cartel leaders.

Interesting fact: a couple years ago after quitting wow and feeling depressed about the future of mmos I came to eve's website and looked around. I figured the best way to see if the game was worth buying was to come to general discussion and see how much complaining was going on. I stumbled upon a thread exactly like this one.... 'Eve is dying'. So I figured if the players believe this what is the point of me getting involved in a game like this? 2 years later I greatly regret not starting eve earlier.

In other words, fear mongering solves nothing.

In every game there's a bunch of idiots that complain and make it sound so bad (while still continuing to play it) especially if a games lasts a long enough time this is common especially in every general discussion forum you'll find nothing but whine which if read enough can make you stay away from the game without even playing it as is your case and happened to me before.

Best thing to do is trying the game out yourself, I know from my experience that reading forums before starting a game has ruined alot of them for me.

It's not fear mongering. It's just idiotic failpoastings. Weird huh ? Yup.

Is there any way you try to track 'unique' subscriptions? (do we have more people with alts but less people playing) ?

Do we have less people willing to subscribe but more wealthier obsessed (lack of a better word) purchasing plex with $$ and thrifty in-game people buying them with isk for their subs?

I wonder if this "back to school" phenomena affects other games as it affects Eve right now. When I log in World of Tanks for example, it does not feel like there are less players connected to WoT then usual. It even feels numbers have slightly raised in the past few weeks. Different type of player profile maybe?

Good idea.

They're doing this tomorrow on their twitchtv channel.

It works like this:

EVE is dying

Therefore give me exactly what I want right now

Or I will keep yelling that EVE is dying

More like this:

- I am not having fun in this game (for various reasons and most likely it's my own fault)

- Therefore it is impossible that anybody else could possibly have fun in this game either

- Maybe I had more fun if CCP changed something to make my playstyle insanely powerful

- Then everybody else would have more fun, too

- If they don't do it, I might quit and everybody else will, too.

- Eve is dying unless CCP un-nerfs TEH DRAEK !!111

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

True, on both counts... but right now CCP is getting punked by a variety of more exciting game releases. Which is also where alot of those college kids are spending what little free time they have.

If there was ever a time to shine, CCP, the upcoming winter expansion had better be it. Blink
