Today I woke up and said, I go sell my room for 2.8b isk. So as I brush my teeth and wash my eyes I noticed something important, that eve is controlling my life, I have no time to spend with my family anymore or my pet birds, because I spend all my time in eve. Eve is a fun game but also controlling game. Is it time for me to quit? Or should I learn how to manage my time? Will I ever fly a Titan? Or will I ever get a girlfriend? What's more important? Life or a game? So as of today I will only play 3 hours a day. You guys should to and spend more time with your family.

I see to hold it up well while managing a large financial services company and spending time with the mrs.

Just got to be good at balancing things.

Eve shouldnt be your life, but it should be part of your life that lets you blow off the steam from real life.

Forget getting a titan, pick realistic goals. over 7 years in eve and i still dont fly any capitals and have no desire too.

Size isnt everything, its what you do with it. And what you get the most fun out of. Blink

That's what she said.

Got about a month before my account closes for good. Haven't even bothered to update a 17 day skill that ended 20 days or so ago. Like Gray, I never went into capitals and never saw a reason to. I've done my time and had my fun. But one thing is I've never made this game my life.

Hopefully you'll change your mind.

Regardless, fly safe. 07

It was going to be true 2 months ago but while was mulling over it the 3 month recur hit. I've barely logged in to the game over the past year and mostly what has kept me around was OOPE but I just can't justify the funds to post on a forum anymore. You can still find me in Planetside 2 on Waterson TR.

For what it's worth, when I first started in game, it was consuming.

The Mrs. and I had more than a couple of discussions regarding my time in EVE and my time with family. I have to admit, I was embarrased at the valid points she brought up.

While I still spend a bit of time in game. (Not nearly as much as I used to) I try now not to let it eat away into spending time with the wife and kidlings. Most of my in game time is spent decompressing from work (usually an hour or so), sometimes after dinner or after the family has gone to bed.

It was pointed out to me by my loving wife that my kids will never get younger. I try to enjoy that before they get too old and jaded themselves.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I even let my account lapse for a week. But in the end I traded ISK savings for a PLEX, just to hang out in OOPE. I'm kind of burnt out with EVE, but I'm still addicted to EVE forums. Blink

Meanwhile OP, to avoid in-game addiction I'm just soloing. Not doing anything that involves any commitment to corp mates or other players. It helps manage the time spent in-game, and to be able to log off at any time at all.

Edit: I still hang out with friends and ex-corpies in a non-corp chat channel. I just don't feel any obligations to fleet up, maintain the POS, recruit, whatever.

Since i pay yearly, when i burn out I set a couple of long skills and play something that has no relation to eve or its theme. By this I mean a complete disconnect. The POS goes into storage, PI is ignored, everything in eve is cut away.

The only thing thats changed is since the last time this happened I started forum posting rather than lurking and have become LAGL Man and whats OOPE without its resident superhero? P

Mostly the games i play on eve include lots of civ, mass effect 3 MP with my 1kB mates. Some total war and recently shadowrun returns as that game and its user made content is great. In addition I set myself a RL goal. I increase my exercise routine, add another language to those I speak to refine an existing language further, or I play around on the stock market, seeing how fast I can grow $1,000 within x period of time.

After a while I will suddenly have the eve urge and I come back refreshed and ready to roll.

Get a divorce.
Quit your job.
Build a false floor into a dumpster behind any restaurant (free food) with Wi-Fi.
Trench underground and tap into power source.

When is a Titan going to give you head? If you can find an EVE Groupie that thinks Titans are head-worthy, there's your direction. Otherwise, go outside and smell some flowers. You can always come back to EVE in smaller increments.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.
