Nobody who plays EVE is interested in it.

Arenas won't work, because in Eve there is no instances or space that others cannot enter, thus anybody could warp in to interfere with the people in the arena. If arenas are ever implemented I can see a huge tear faucet being created, probably with smartbombs or roving destroyer fleets.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

well, I'm not, however, could you elaborate?

Is it like: Nobody is interested in it and that's why nobody tried to set it up in the first place or rather like: various trials in the past, but nobody was interested so it died a quick death?

Ah, but you miss the point, according to Harrys "logic", EvE gameplay should be designed to be interesting to the people that don't play EvE. Because. Stuff. Or something.

SiSi does not help at all, there are no leagues no arenas, you are not put together with others in teams, there is no gamemode for this, you can just go there with your frig and fight a titan, that does not make sense

a real league needs to be putup ingame so people are put together randomly to fight, no searching for fleet or people, you just be put together with others... and the gamemode puts you in the fleet with others, check out Starcraft or other games, thats how its done

it would be perfect to use those mechanics in EvE, at the moment a lot of that potential is just unused in this game

its the perfect game for leagues and arenas, would perfectly fit into the universe

ahhh please allow me to translate

Eve is an arena. In it's entirety. Intellect is your weapon, your ship merely the tip of the spear.

Mostly the fact that while it has been done the Alliance Tournament and the Syndicate Competitive League showed just how much work it takes to run these things succesfully. I think the amount of dev time it would take to set up a system that didnt require constant attention to work as well as they did would be enourmous and thats something CCP really cant afford to spend, especially when its a feature that goes directly against one of their stated design goals for their game.

Having said that if say they designed it as a seperate system for organising E-Sports events and tournaments I think it would be a cool idea, just as long it remained outside the core game.

I think this is a really good idea. However, the 1 v 1 match ups should be based on the amount of skill points a player has or it just won't be fair.

They did the exact same thing in galaxies and the economy collapsed inside two weeks.

the opposite would happen, implemented the right way people would start intense grinding for the best ships, they would need to get to nullsec and WH space to get those most expensive modules, they would loose ships going there and stuff, it would even stimulate nullsec roaming etc.

you could not enter arenas, its locked out space, your foolish gameplay won't work there... it should be programmed that way

this is for competitive gamers, not just some douchebags who want to destroy other gamers fun

yea I think of it as beeing completely seperated however accessible in the game, like a button below the undock button, "enter arena" there you have your virtual reality training ground where you can just engage in battles, easy to access but still seperated from the game, more like a game in the game
