A KM from 2 years ago, in a drake with missiles, does not constitute validation of a claim that she killed a different ship of James's, with a destroyer with guns, a few months ago. This KM, whether real or faked, is quite irrelevant to this thread. What's next, people posting KMs of podding Jonah Gravenstein as proof that they blew up the Mittani in his titan, with their cyno alt in a noobship?

Pretty much. Does it count if I pod myself, with my trade alt, flying a Badger, with a candlestick holder, in the library?

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I just posted what I was able to find. I liked OP's story, but I wanted the proofs to go with it. True story or not, it was still a fun wall of text to read and I was not trying to validate or invalidate it either way. If there was a different, more recent KM, feel free to post it.

Shalua is usually pretty chill; she doesn't troll and spew obscenities or vitriol, and accepts that Eve is a dirty no holds barred game, even if she doesn't particularly like that aspect of the game.

I understand that, there are parts of the game I don't like (like ganking and scamming and such). I respond to those parts of the game I deeply dislike by not playing them (and by defending myself from them), but I don't allow myself to think that the people playing those parts are "walking the fine line between asocial and amoral" as she put it.

[quote=Lady Areola Fappington]Just to throw out a little thing on morals, this morning I listened to a very disturbing voicemail. Someone using a voice modulator called my cell, and told me he knew my address, my workplace, and the make of car I drove. I was told to apologize to the "highsec Mining Community" and post proof of deletion of my accounts, "or else". I'm sure, being the awful evil ganker, blowing up spaceships in the spaceship exploding game, that I deserved that, according to some. Yes, the police are involved. I'll soundcloud the message as soon as I get my phone back.

While that kind of behavior is under no circumstances acceptable, it also kind of proves my point... your actions brought this reaction (as misguided as it might be) about... yea, it's a game, and yea, the boundaries should be clear cut, alas they aren't always and for everyone.

OMG, if that's the case....I ran over some Hoes last night while playing grand theft auto, I can now expect real life Hoes to knock on my door tomorrow to protest. I better stock up on lysol , antibiotics and condoms.

What I got from the response was that it was at least somewhat Lady's fault for acting all provocative like.

Playing a game properly (ie without the bounds of it's Terms of Service/EULA, which is what lady, James and people like them do) is not and can never be in any way, shape or form an excuse of out of game illegal acts like telephone harassment.

Hey genius its only a bannable offence if you delete the character due to a low sec status. Pulling concord off the belt doesnt count or all gankers would be banned for pulling them off also. Its okay we understand your special.

Posting a faked KM (without sufficient disclaimer) which doesn't match the story in either the winning or losing ship types, weapon types, date, etc, makes you look like an alt of the OP trying to substantiate a faked story. If that doesn't bother you, more power to you. If it does, read more carefully next time.

To avoid him, I simply moved to null sec to mine, james I dare you to come out there.

I just turned into an egg, did I level up? I spent an hour trying to salvage a wreck, when in local a guy said "Stop it, this is my Tempest, I was AFK"

Thanks, seeing that helps abit. It's just really freakish, that someone would go through all the trouble it took to find one of my numbers, and leave a threatening message.

Also, you feel naked without your phone, after you get used to having it for awhile.

I do know this..had one of the New Order gankers mentioned leaving a threatening voicemail on a target miner's phone, there would be none of this "Well, it was wrong, buuuuuut they deserved it for being AFK." Most of us would be racing to get support tickets in, passing what info we could to the victim, while unconditionally divesting ourselves of that person's presence.

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

That wasn't what I said... not even close.

...and yea, would these "hoes" you ran over in GTA would have had real people playing them, then you could have provoked such a reaction too.

Again, I don't, in the least, have any synmpathy for people that threaten or otherwise harass other people... whether because of things that happen in a game, nor otherwise... all I'm saying is that, even in the blissful anonymity of the internet, there is cause and effect... and keeping some manner of social awareness can never hurt.

What's next, you'll post graffiti you found on the Brooklyn bridge, then when I point out that you're posting useless and crude graffiti on an unrelated forum, you'll provide me with the address of New York City Public Works Department, since you found it on 'their' bridge? I've done plenty to people in games before, I never got a phone call at home about it.

Social awareness? That's some of the worst insanity I've ever come across. Your denials notwithstanding, you are actually saying that Lady should expect out of game consequences for legal (and not in the least bit immoral or even real) in game actions.

It's this belief of yours (no matter how you try to downplay it) that is honestly (and IRL) wrong, not anything Lady and Co. do in a video game.

Two questions:

1. Why do you care so much?
2. Why are you so mad?

I could care less as to who ganked who, with what ship, or how their story was told. No one is even talking about the OP and you're just bringing attention to it.

Most people learn at a very young age that something not being allowed does not prevent someone from doing it. If you are going to spend your game time pissing people off you should only expect them to react as imperfect humans, why you would expect a few words on the internet to be enough to make humanity sensible I don't know.

That is not to say that it is okay or acceptable to take things into real life but there is no case to suggest it is shocking thing to happen after the victim has devoted time to pissing the offender off.

I'm sorry, but I can indeed read English.

What you said was
Quote:
While that kind of behavior is under no circumstances acceptable, it also kind of proves my point... your actions brought this reaction (as misguided as it might be) about... yea, it's a game, and yea, the boundaries should be clear cut, alas they aren't always and for everyone.
You then went on to suggest that Lady "keep some social awareness".

Despite your weak denials, that amounts to condoning the out of game actions of people butt hurt about Lady's in-game actions.

We know that crazy people exist and won't follow the rules and norms of society (this is why I have my IRL job of dealing with criminals and their victims every single day). But their actions deserve only condemnation, not "back handed" excuses like yours. If you can't understand that what you posted is wrong and reprehensible (and no, no one is mistaking what you said), you need to get as far away from a keyboard as you can for a few months.

I won't post about this further, but you should be ashamed of yourself.

But that's exactly what you are saying.

I teach my kids that just because a law or rule exists, that doesn't mean bad things don't happen. I explained it to them because It's why I put on a uniform each day.

But I also tell them that I eventually catch the idiots who do bad things too. And I tell them that even though they should protect themselves, they shouldn't stop doing legitimate, right, legal things because of what others may do.

Some of you people are amazing.
