Anyone here actively use 3 accounts at a time? I am currently running 2 and they work fine. What type of specs are needed to run a third, I don't want to upgrade a 3rd account only to find I cant run them at once.

Run fullscreen and you can pretty much multibox as many as you want if your computer isn't utter crap. It's the graphics rendering that kills you, and if you're in windowed mode, everything is always rendering even if the Eve window isn't visible. Fullscreen only renders graphics when it's active.

I did not know that, good info. I am running two screens at the moment but its good to know that one of them will not be rendered.

Edit: One of the 3 accounts I mean

Running full screen sucks. If you run full screen you cannot quickly alt tab to your other clients. If you are pimp you have a computer that runs W7 in Aero mode and a mouse that has a button to switch apps and it renders every client you have up and you select which one to make active with the scroll wheel.

When PvPing with mutiple clients on one screen quick swapping is a must. But Multiple monitors are better.

Two of the characters will be mining, the other will be running missions. Fast swapping isn't a big deal I guess. I will test it out on a single monitor with my current accounts and see if it works well enough for me.

Telling us what type of video card and cpu you have would help. We could tell you if it'd be okay.

I haven't checked my videocard temp, maybe I should since I don't run fullscreen. I like to be able to see each client and quickly change between them. I just have to remember to click on the window first to make it the active window.

I run a pair of old 8600GT's on an AMD box over 5 years old with Vista 64.

I can run 4 accounts on 2 screens doing mining ops etc. Options turned down of course.

I run 3 accounts doing L4 missions and get some lag during high NPC count if all 3 are on the field.

For PvP, 2 accounts ruuning, a scout and guns is no problem. I get some lag but most of that is due to high latency from AUS to UK.

EDIT: I run in windowed mode. Haven't tried full screen. Interesting point by that poster.

It seems windows XP cannot handle running 2 accounts, 1 on each screen. I am only able to triple box via the alt tab method.

I petitioned it and the final answer was XP not being able to render stuff correctly.

I have a 1GB DDR5 Nvidia 560ti, which isn't the problem.

I think EVE is more CPU demanding rather than the graphics card.

All you need is enough memory to run all those clients. Set graphics settings to minimum and you can run quite many accounts at same time if you have enough memory.

Sad part is that current client take lot of more memory than before so at least on my part CCP has lot 20% of active accounts.

I'm running 2 accounts - 1 per screen - on XP64, my graphics card is a 9800gtx+.

It runs fine, I have the sound turned off on one account, graphics are set to max settings on the main screen and lowered a bit for the second.

I can even run CQ comfortably on 2 screens with no issues...

My specs are:

4GB Ram
Windows Vista (32 I believe)

NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT - Not sure on the specs...kind of an idiot trying to find that.

That enough for three instances running ( I assume at low graphics settings)

Actually, I think you can handle nice graphics with at least two clients with that setup. Perhaps three if you push it.

My setup (with two clients):
4GB Ram
Geforce 8800 GTX
Windows Vista (32bit)

dont take their advice... it factors in alot more than what you're pc specs are

Do you have memory hogs like Norton Antivirus or the such running? Itunes? I could list many...

Simpy sign up for a trial on the eve website, and open a 3rd client and test it out for yourself.

No cost to you, no loss to CCP, AND, if it works fine and you decide to keep the 3rd account, you can earn yourself a free months game time as you referred yourself ;)

I used to run 4 accounts on one computer (1 Orca, 3 Hulks), one screen, in windowed mode with windows XP, A 8600GT, 2 GB RAM, and AMD Dual core (forget which one) with little issues. Just had to make sure I had the graphics turned down. This was when the Orca first came out, so dunno, Carbon might have changed things with XP.

Windowed 1042x768 Up to 5 clients.

I run up to 5 (Orca + 4 miners)
or 3 combat pilots for PVE

Turn down/off all graphics options.

As you can see this rig is very old, probably worth less than $500 these days.

They dont even make the MOBO anymore.

If you've got an I5 or better, and DONT HAVE A MILLION processes open in the background you'll be fine with 3.
