I think it is a failure, but only because the pricetag and content is not balanced. You get stuff worth about 30-40 bucks wrapped up in a mystery code for a pricetag of 150 bucks Roll

And stuff a lot of Eve players don't even want, i.e. the DUST stuff.

I'd want if it I could use it.

/Fixed.

They should ship a ps3 with the ce Twisted.

I have a PS3.
It's an old 30gig model.
I had linux on it so I lost half of my hard drive space to that.
I'm left without enough room to play dust even if I wanted to.

the fact that every time they patch the game some people have to completely reinstall the game is a fail. i havent been able to play in about 3 days because i cant get the game to ******* patch.

Yes the collectors edition of a game that has been out for years is a fail.

10 yr anniversery thing isn't it? so not quite the fail.. the only failure is your comp..

It's garbage. The only think truly epic about it that gives you something ingame that's EVE related is the golden pod.

The rest is rl stuff that is nice but IMO a collectors edition should give you a ton of epic ingame stuff and not a ton of Dust stuff that will only collect Dust in a corner of your desktop.

I've said it before, include some epic Battleship or some other epic item and we can start talking.

Celebrating a 10 year anniversary by doing this: "Heyyy buy this Collectors Edition and get a skinned frigate and a golden pod! Just 150 Euro!" is just epic fail if anything.

My interests include but are not limited to throwing rocks at bee hives.

I *almost* feel like the gnosis BPC should be a BPO.
But then it'd just be straight pay-to-win when people start mass-producing ME 100 gnosium that no one else can even make.

On Topic:

What do you consider a failure, or success for that matter? Is it a failure if CCP doesn't make a profit from it? Is it a failure if you don't like it? Imo, CCP has something to celebrate and they choose to offer everybody a certain item, that you may or may not buy, as a way of celebration. Regardless of how many people decide to join them in this celebration, a lot of people are now aware of the fact that EVE is 10 years old and therefore, I think the Collector's Edition is a success.

Really, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

By making posts like these, you show that you envy the people who do actually buy the thing and that you are ButtHurt about it. Somehow, you try to make yourself feel better by convincing each other that this super awesome Collector's Edition that you're not getting actually isn't worth it for you, even though it's somehow worth your time to make stupid rant posts about it.

I'd prefer paid EVE expansion (for $49) - so I wouldn't have to pledge $65 to Star Citizen in desperate attempt to get any new spaceship content in next couple years.

No one forced you to put money into a game that may or may not actually be released.

we won't, however that doesn't change the fact that many people want an EVE CE, except they don't want a box of stuff they can't/won't use because it's simply not EVE stuff.

posts like these are the feedback CCP want, and yes they do want feedback or they wouldn't have sent people an email linking to a survey specifically about the CE.
the very fact is; to an eve player the collectors edition isn't worth it. we don't want an unrelated board game, we don't want dropsuits for a game we don't play; we want eve content. I'd gladly pay the price for the CE if we replaced the non eve content with eve content, or removed the non eve content and adjusted the price accordingly.

calling it an EVE CE when half of the content isn't eve related is a bit misleading, to be honest.

You do realize that it's stupid easy to upgrade the harddrive in those systems?

All versions take laptop SATA Drives. My PS3 Has a 750GB HDD inside it.

My old Fat PS3 has a 500GB...

Try another excuse...

The board game is actually a good idea.. especially to those that have been around the 10 years and know about the history how the game was started by that game.. Kind of cool to me..

It's irrelevant if the game is the best board game since chess. when i'm buying an EVE CE, i want EVE content.

the board game isn't EVE content.

Speak for yourself. The CE obviously isn't worth it for YOU, but that doesn't mean that others don't like its contents. That you have certain expectations when you think of a "Collector's Edition" is something you created yourself. Obviously, your expectations haven't been met and therefore you think it isn't worth it.

And it's misleading to call it an EVE CE? I think it's perfectly clear what you get when ordering the thing when you read the description and look at the pictures. Again, you mislead yourself by assuming things when hearing the word "Collector's Edition".

If you don't like it, don't buy it (as you said you will do). But why don't you leave it at that? Why make all these posts telling other people that they shouldn't like it either? The CE isn't worth your money, but its definitely worth your time!

Sweet Quafe shirt

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise

I simply cannot see the problem with the logic behind the the marketing strategy of the Collector's Edition.

It seems perfectly sensible to me that CCP should want and expect many folk to pay for stuff used in a game, (DUST) they do not play.

Stand alone Eve Collector's Edition would do well. I would buy it.

Stand alone DUST Collector's Edition would do well. Others would buy it.

I have been contemplating it but the content simply doesn't justify the price. I have no problems with the cost as such so I'd rather see more actual content than a lowered price tag. As it stands it's just not worth to me, which is fine of course as it doesn't have to appeal to every one, but I do feel it's a missed opportunity.
