I'm not people. People are stupid.

I'm an individual with specific tastes and desires. EvE is a unique product that caters to people like myself. You have plenty of games that provide what you want. Go play those games when you want instant gratification. Leave mine the way it is.

You are an individual calling up a political talk radio program and demanding that they change their programming to play pop music, because that is "what people want". The answer is talk politics, or **** off and change your radio to a pop music station.

arenas will be coming, its what the masses want, you want to login, get into a 500 vs. 500 fight and then log off, 90% of the people whan that, so you need to give it to them... you "others", can still play the game like you want, no changes there, we won't disturb you

when you see the news, its called gigantic spacefights 4000 players fight over a system, yea right, what happens when you login, month of grinding searching, and if you are lucky, you can have it once a year, after a long long time

some people feel so special about playing this game, it has made them blind...

yet the US do it as well, hmmm... seems to have an effect on stimulus, inflation would not hurt to assure people use their ships and spend their money... those ISKis for most are more important then playing the game

Arena PVP is pointless, it's like an arcade version of PVP. EVE PVP is special because of the consequences, the hunt, open world and variety of tactics and sudden changes in circumstances that can't be reproduced in an arena setting. In any case, they are not coming to EVE.

Masses want to grind for Epic Gear, not lose to other players.

You want instant gratification, we get that. There's plenty of games out there that will give you it, Eve is not one of them.

Something you get given pales in worth when compared to something that you have worked for. When something is given it has no value, especially if you get given another one the instant it is destroyed. It is taken for granted.

A RL comparison would be parents giving a child a bike, and then replacing it when the child breaks it, to the child it has no value. If that child had to mow lawns, deliver papers and otherwise earn that bike, it becomes worth something to them, and they tend not to break it.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

the only reason why some people are against my suggestion of arenas and more ISK for new players is, because it would reduce their influence, people could have their fights without them controling everything, they have become too big, and are locking out other players of the game, their influence needs to go down, and they are the main reason why people start requesting the things I'm asking for

I play Counter Strike - a PvP "arena" game. I've played PS2 - a PvP FPS MMO - it was fun early on but I quit while the "planes Tanks & fodder" mode was still prevalent and see no reason to continue nor return. I've also bought into the pre-release of Interstellar Marines - another "arena" based game when it's finished (with a bit more). I've played Starcraft, SC2, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc... Plenty of PvP style in strategy & such...

No grinding for epics, etc. and fairly well known PvP games albeit different formats from this one.

There is plenty of interest in EVE's annual "tournaments" for the elite level players yet whenever such is talked about for non-elitists, we see mass "no way in hell!!!" statements...

It is odd how so many like that and support it fully but would not like to see such introduced for "the average EVE player" to enjoy playing. Kind of "for the elite, they can have arranged matches but unless we can crash to trash these others, they should not be allowed to do so in EVE!!!"...

again, its just another game mode, you can leave the rest like it is, it will attract more people to play the other part of eve as well, and arenas would attract millions

if you know that you can have a 500 vs. 500 fight every day if you login, that would bring millions of players

eve has a really cool metagame, but you need to attract people with some fast daily action to come to the game, if they got tired of the arenas they will start the bigger metagame, I'm sure

No it's not, you are trying to apply concepts like arenas to a game that was never designed to support them. You seem to want maximum reward for minimal effort, Eve doesn't work that way. If you want instant combat there are many many games out there that offer it, some of us play them as well.

Your ideas would turn Eve into a clone of multiple other games, it would offer nothing unique, nothing different. why would people play an Eve that has exactly the same options as all the other games? 90% of other MMOs have died or gone free 2 play because they've tried to be World of Warcraft and failed, they offer the same basic gameplay in a different setting.

Eve's appeal is that it doesn't have arenas, isn't trying to be WoW, or its clones, and has its own unique way of doing things. It appeals to people who like to play a game with long term goals in mind.

Wouldn't you agree that annual, official tournaments are rather different than Arenas?

No, that is not the reason. People don't want arenas because they would ruin the PVP we currently have.

thats why I say, arenas will bring people to the game, but later on when you get tired of it you will start the EvE metagame with SoV fights and stuff, this would work, the other arena games do not have a good metagame thats why they get boring, eve could be the perfect combination, early on you can fight in arenas and grind up slowely, and as soon as you get tired of the arenas you will move over to the real deal, nullsec Sov gameplay

at the moment eve is missing this early gameplay, it just provides the endgame and to get there is really difficult and takes to long, there needs to be something in between, arenas would be the ideal sollution for that, it would make the game more attractive for casual players, and many of those would want to stay for the metagame after they did see what EvE can provide on that scale

no they are just scared of their influence, they think nobody would play SoV anymore, however the opposite would happen, people would start in arenas, grind up and after they get bored of it, they would move on to the metagame

other games have arenas but they get boring thats true, but eve would provide the metagame after it... however eve is boring at the beginning thats why people hold back from it, arenas would change this

Those casuals you wish to attract, are generally the same casuals who play a game for 3-6 months and then move onto the next game. They have no sense of investment, they're also the ones who will incessantly whine about non-consensual PvP, highsec not being safe enough, ship fitting being "hard", "I can't grind XP by harvesting asteroids", ad infinitum.

because the metagame was flawed of those other games, if the matagame is attractive the people will move on to it after they got tired of the arenas, or play the metagame next to it, it can work together perfectly if the two parts of the game provide different things, different satisfaction... having SoV space is a good reason for metagame in eve, pretty sure people would still want that, the would concentrate more on the bigger SoV fights that would not be bad either, sure the day to day PvP might go down out there, but it is already thin, people should play SoV fights much more, and they will... arenas would freshen up the SoV fights because that would be the main focus out there because normal PvP they can get in arenas

Most of the PVP happens outside sov null, hth. Your mind is on a monotrack and totally fogged by your naive prejudices and NPC-corp sourced misconceptions about nullsec players.

That's right Harry, don't let facts get in the way of your little crusade to ruin Eve. I hope you stick to your word and don't resub in October, our world will be a better place without you, and your masterplan.
