I've always wondered why we can't anchor POSes at the sun.

Loads of solar panels for energy and that's that. Straight

I support this initiative but think it could be developed a bit further.

A sun should be as good source of raw materials as the asteroid belts, and even better for isotopes and some other volatiles.

Probably a gas harvester would be better suited for the job than a regular drilling laser.

The problem is that the mined products are unlikely to exist in mineral form while in the sun, so either they do not conform to the categorization of the commonly used industrial alloys, or they need to be annealed during the removal, or both.

mining the sun.....brings back even more memories of fuel scoops and skimming the sun in Elite.
