This is a bit of a repost, as I've already brought it up in the Tech lab forum, but as this is a product direction decision, rather than a technical one, I thought it was appropriate to bring up here, to have the CSM make sure that CCP have at least considered it.

Short version:

Right now, if you're out of the Eve client, any market data you're using probably came from cache scraping, which is against the EULA (though it's been stated that it won't have anything done about it, unless you do something else bad).

This data is used all over the place, from manufacturing calculators to killboards. It's obviously of use to the community.

That's why I'm asking (and there's support from other third party devs) for an official way to get market data. It doesn't need to be live timely data. Having it being cached would be fine, as long as that cache isn't too long.

The main reason this has kicked up again, is that due to cache changes, all market data uploaders are currently broken.

Your third party devs are asking for something official. Please?

A basic request system, by typeid and region id, returning the order data, and one for the historical data, would do just fine. We can take it from there.

Woo! CSM XI!
