Im afraid to listen to this sound file. Seems there is a lot of emotion involved. Is the singing on key or does he come up flat.

btw how much scamming can you do to a noob that cant be replaced in a few weeks of grinding?

The only prob I see with this is at the end he clearly states they don't have permission to publish it, yet they do anyway.
Fairly sure that's against the EULA if not outright illegal.
Isn't this the kind of thing The Mittani got banned for? Taking an in game action and taking the abuse out of game?

Well considering your corp, you would say that. At least over here, recording of a conversation has to be agreed before it's allowed to be published, and CCP have banned people for taking their abuse out of game, which this is.

TBH to be big enough pratts to do that to someone in the first place they deserve a ban.

CCP want to know why their player base doesn't grow much...look to people like these to blame.

I am pretty sure that it is law in the EU that you are not allowed to publish anything with someone's voice on it without their permission. I know for sure you cannot record and use for public evidence, any recording of someone without them consenting and being informed in advance that this is being recorded. Any such recording is regarded as an invasion of privacy.
That is why the call centres have a message telling you that your call is being recorded. It is a legal requirement.

We're all nerds playing a spaceship game it's pathetic when others trying to elevate themselves from other nerds like this

edit: the parallels they tried to draw between the guys accent and the US confederacy / Germans was absolutely shameful

Erotica 1: How about singing a confederate song, you;d like that wouldn't you
Scammed guy: I am not racist
Everyone on teamspeak: WOW WOW we didn't mean that!

Of COURSE you meant that you f-tards

This is high school bullying sht, yeah great community we have here

In many US states, two party consent is required to record a conversation. In just about all, and many other countries the rules for publishing are even more strict.

Incidentally, wouldn't making him sing for his loot be tantamount to "RL work for ISK" which is frowned upon.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

I agree. This is the salient point. In New Eden, we prey on the weak—their lack of military might, their insufficient funds, their lesser cunning or simple naivete—and walk away smiling. This is the fundamental mechanic of the game, and we take pleasure in the victories we gain by means of it. But we do not take this practice away with us when we leave Tranquility. To do so means to overstep an ethical boundary. Just as we do not abuse beggars on the street, or maltreat the sick and injured for personal gain or for the lulz, so we do not exploit someone's psychological weaknesses, his gullibility or suggestibility, in order to damage him in real life. There is a misapprehension on the part of some contributors to this thread that just because we can take a naive and foolish player and make him do things that humiliate him IRL, in order to hurt him, we should. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means to play a game, and although it is not a question of rules being violated or the EULA being disregarded, it is morally culpable.

Some of you people have a lot to learn about what it takes to be a decent human being.

"Enduring", "restrained" and "ample" as designations for starship components are foreign to the genre of high-tech science fiction and don’t belong in Eve Online. (And as for “scoped” …)

It's only 'out of game' by definition of the conversation taking place on TS. If the same thing had happened on EVE voice, would it still be out of game?

Disagree. I would argue this incident provided a valuable life lesson to carbuilder. It makes sense that damaging ones own reputation in front of his family is quite low for any human being. However, this individual allowed it when he decided to put his gameplay on exhibit in front of his family. It is in the same vein as someone who gambles, loses it all, and has to come back and look his family in the eye. Only, this time it was done with monopoly money instead of real life money. In that regard you can say that Erotica1 and fellow members of the Order as doing this guy a favor. A favor of showing him his gullibility before he actually physically damages his homestead.

Also scamming is not considered abuse, so even if it is out of game it is still legal

It's out of game by nature of the fact that they are making him do things unrelated to the game.

No. Anything he did, he chose to do. He was never under any physical duress, and could have simply ended the whole affair at any time. He should seek help, if he can't control himself to that extent, because others will simply take advantage of him his entire life. It doesn't make the behavior of the others acceptable or right, but ultimately he should be in control of his own actions.

Maybe he's getting help, or is recovered. Maybe he has a disability. I really don't know.

What I do know is that THIS behavior is bad for EVE. Today someone is blurring the line for RL harassment, tomorrow someone will step over it. The day after, someone will leap and there will be press conferences and lawsuits. This can come back to bite us all.

Just don't do it, if you feel the need to exploit and hurt people AT COST, you are the one who needs help.

Just because this stuff happens all the time in other video games and this guy was willing to do just about anything for video game it doesnt escape the fact that these guys are douches.

Don't get me wrong the scammed fella had it coming to him, but these guys just kept going on with it to the point of even involving the guy's family. The scammed dude shouldn't be compensated by any means or even sympathized, but **** guys I thought we were grown up adults who just wanted to fly in space for fun. Not sadistic ***holes...
