What t1 cruiser would you go for, in a solo lowsec roam ?

Let's suppose you are about to go in a lowsec roam as solo ( no scouting alts, or OGB alt ) having the ability to fly all t1 racial cruisers at maximum efficiency (for simplicity) . I'm interested to know what would your choice will be .
Would you go for sort range weapons, long range weapons ?
As for the tank, will it be a local rep tank or simply a standard buffer tank ?
Please specify what made you decide for a specific hull in particular, if possible. I would much appreciate to hear your thoughts on this , your opinion does matter.

Signal Amplifier II
Tracking Enhancer II

Large Shield Extender II
Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I
Warp Disruptor II
Stasis Webifier II

220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II,Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II,Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II,Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II,Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M
50W Infectious Power System Malfunction

Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Projectile Ambit Extension I

Drones to taste, I use warriors but many would use EC-300's.

You can swap the sig amp for gyro or TE depending on your preferance or if you know damps are not about (because damping hookbills can **** right off).

Also, you can actually fit a small neut too, not sure why it's not in my eft fit.

You want to fly something most people underestimate:

Look at damage taken

@ Christine
I agree with your choice regarding the drones . As for the signal amplifier, do you really think the extra 60 mm scan resolution bonus justifies its presence in there ? Other than that the increased lock range and extra targets don't seem to have that much of usage from it (or am i missing something in here). As you said, I would probably go for another gyro or maybe a DCU.

Indeed very nice tank for a cruiser and it still has good dps . But i bet it is intesive to fly in terms of pilot experience. I assume usage of keyboad shortcuts goes without saying...

The Vexor is a slightly better cruiser amongst a crowd of slightly lesser cruisers.

Vexor by far and away is the best t1 cruiser. 750dps no problem when using a 2 ogre 2 hammer and 1 hob setup. But honestly my favourite fit is the dual rep + 800mm plate setup. Very strong tank and good drone DPS.

Its to increase lock range, the rest is just gravy. If you've ever fought a dual damp hookbill or condor its the difference between getting bored as you are pecked to death or murdering its dirty damping face with 220mm of **** you.

Yes but everyone knows what a vexor can do so nobody is going to try and brawl you down solo and you don't have the speed or range to engage groups of cruisers without dying.

Shamefully I actually never flown one xD . I've tried the nano Scythe FI with RLML and was surprised by the results, but that dodges the initial topic being a faction cruiser.

I know everything is situational in Eve, but tbh I still find the Caracal a little bit slow.

Is a blaster fitted Thorax still viable ? It's been a while since I haven't flown one ?

If you fit it properly, it'll do over 2.1km/s, have way better damage projection than any other T1 Cruiser and will turn like a Frigate.

Caracal for sure, any small pirate gang or solo BC pilot will engage you without thinking, well until they realise your 400dps HAMS doing full damage and you kiting them 21k away while sentrys help you a bit.

I'd go with an arbitrator myself, not the best dps, but a very solid buffer tank, and against any turret ship it wins almost outright, but loses vs many missile ships, and has a decent fight with any other drone boats. If you want to see a pissed off gallente derp gunner, apply two range script TD's on him.

Someone abandoned a Rupture in my POS once. That thing was awesome!
I flew it in several fights and eventually gave it to someone else. Great ship.

I like the Caracal. (except it's cap is terrible)

Railgun changes that are coming will make Moa a good solo too i hope.
