Why are suicide gankers hated so much?

Hello fellow capuleers

Suicide ganking has been a profession taking up by EVE's underworld for years and years and the question I wish to ask you (even though I can foresee the flaming) is why are they hated so much? There are many things one can do to avoid being suicide ganked in EVE and as a person who has been suicide ganked twice because of my own laziness (because you know the best thing to transport a 500mill blueprint is a bestower with only cargo expanders and 50% armor) yet I was not mad at the situation I learned and I adapted.

I recently started suicide ganking haulers myself and what I find most strange is that I get the most hate not from the gankee but the surrounding people in local some of the people I have ganked have even convo'd me and we have had quite decent talks (one guy I was speaking to wanted to learn how to suicide gank himself and after speaking with him for an hour I contracted his loot back!) is it because of 'organisations' such as the new order (of which I very much enjoy reading minerbumping.com james 315's arrogance highly amuses me) or maybe it is because of the likes of burn jita and hulkageddon.

I notice a lot of people have a false sense of security in high security space and maybe this is the problem but just because some is named high security why should you feel safe?? I would not carry everything in my bank on me walking around a high security prison so why would I do it in EVE?

Lots of love

Your friendly neighborhood ganker :)

I wouldn't call it hate. Sounds more like words of encouragement to get you to continue having fun at your type of eve. Its like the pat on the rear when a good play is made in sports.

Signatures wer cooler when we couldn't remove them completely.

I think a lot of it has to do with loss. mostly they can't believe they lost their ship and in high sec too, but this is not the gankers fault. you didn't make them go afk or bot. To all my fellow miners who might read this thread ccp gave you a great tool to help prevent loss tactical overlay use it. you can see them coming from 200km out.

Love and hate are so intricated, maybe they're just envious and spew rage in frustration of not being gutsy enough to actually use their own precious pixel ships.

Because bad things only happen to *other people* and the moment it happens to you - it makes you one of "them" .

People hate being one of "them" soooo .. they hate you too :P

Makes perfect sense in my little head *lalala*

I always thought it was about effort, since ganking takes about as much effort and less time than mining.
And just think of how much people hate on miners.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

I was told yesterday by a certain miner after blowing up his Mackinaw in local "F^%$ You." I promptly covo'd him and said hi! He proceeded to ask me if I feel like a "big man" and I replied I feel very happy ^_^

He said "F" off again called me a Fa^%*t and closed convo. I quickly put a 10 million isk bounty on him to fuel the flames on a 5.0 status character. The kicker? He'd been mining since 2007...

I love ganking for reactions like this especially from older players. They are incredulous and oblivious even if they played Eve for years they are still easily killed despite them knowing enough.

Call me an ******* or a **** or whatever you like. It only makes me smile more Pirate

We are a community that strives on tears and people yell at my scanner in local and call me all sorts under the sun for having the cheek or the balls to scan them (some guy even put a 100 000 isk bounty on my scanner and said he would war dec me lol) and people wonder why I do not use a passive targeter? Because I get a response like that lol

Because gankers are just another form of highsec carebear. Who enjoy yelling about how leet their pvp is. When in reality they're on the same level as the miners and mission runners. lol, I know gankers who mine to buy catalysts and dont see the irony.

I basically see all highseccers the same. Gankers just seem to roleplay too much for my tastes. "oooh the delicious tears"

Want delicious tears? Nab a noctice in a wh after hes finished cleaning up his site.

Gankers just try too hard imo. People who actually do enjoy it and arent just scared of leaving highsec to pvp though, power to ya.

I'd still have trouble believing people do this if it weren't for the chat logs. I didn't even know someone could be that sore about losing ships until I had a CEO (or two) rage on me for getting ittys and viators blown up like it's going out of style.

Evemail me the character name and I'll watchlist them. I hate homophobic abuse being thrown around in games.
