Getting into containers

Very new player here, only a few hours in and already the learning curve has me thinking "This is not gonna be easy". But that challenge appeals to me. However, beating my head against a data container isn't that appealing. Doing an agent mission to learn to use the probe scanner has me finding a data site which I must then hack. And hack I did. 3 Times successfully. And I still cant get the container to give up its loot, particularly, one certificate of discovery-data. 3 Times I have been told the hack was successful and then...nothing. Am I doing something wrong? Or rather, what am I doing wrong. Thanks for any help or info

Little container gets spewed out into space. Click it once, loot acquired. (Petition and ask for a mission reset if necessary)

Yeah, it's a little annoying.

Yeah, this is a tough one at first. Once you complete the hack, you'll be dumped immediately back into space view. look carefully, because a bunch of tiny containers explode into space like a piƱata. They will show up green in the space view. Click on them and they'll tow into your ship. It's completely un intuitive and makes no logical sense, but there it is. You will generally not be able to grab them all before they magically disappear (also unintuitive and illogical) providing you with and endless source of frustration and annoyance.

Banish plump Jack, and banish all the world.

Since this is a tutorial mission, there will be one of those spew cans only. Normal exploration sites have lots of them.

Thanks for the quick answers guys. Guess I'll ask for a reset and give it another try
