Hey, i was just wondering if we can cloak and run away using covert ops cloaking device when we are in a battle

You cannot cloak when you are targeted by someone or something. You cannot cloak if you're 2500 from any "physical" object.

damn i thought i can, so i could cloak and run when i almost die in a battle. so what is covert ops good for in known space aside from scouting. and can people scan using probe when we are cloaked?

yeah you can probe and scan while cloaked, that being the main purpose of covert ops ships (just look at the bonuses they get to virus coherence)

but you can also equip one with a combat scanner -- you can scan down ships and warp in within 50km (or so), and before your prey notices you, you can cloak and move in on it, and surprise attack. (I guess this would probably be with stealth bombers)

can we use MWD in cloak? and can anyone explain how does covert ops cloak works? i still dont understand

You press the button, you go invisible. You go within 2km of something, you decloak. Whats not to get?

You cannot activate any modules while cloaked, you have a targeting delay after decloaking (unless you are in a stealth bomber).

The benefits of a covert ops cloak over a normal cloak are the ability to warp while cloaked and the ability to move at full speed while cloaked.
