Hey all.

Releasing my new video. Like the last it's solo pvp action, but with a distinctly more null sec flavour this time.

Laktos Intolerance 2: Some Kind Of Monster

What you will see in this video:

- Pure solo
- No scouts
- No gang links or alts of any kind
- No implants
- Fighting outnumbered and/or against superior ships

Starring: Enyo
Brief appearances by: Cyclone, Drake, Armageddon, Heron, Rupture.

Run time: 14:55 (For some reason there is approx. just over 2 mins of black screen and no sound at the end extending the run time to more like 17min. However as it does not affect the footage or the video itself I cannot be bothered spending hours rerendering at this point in time.)
File Size: 780mb
Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Track List:

Pink Floyd - Speak To Me/Breathe (Intro only)
Metallica - Some Kind Of Monster
Rage Against The Machine - Freedom

Special thanks to Wensley for inspiring me to start flying Enyo's and to take bigger risks and fly harder!

Notes:

* In one scene (Enyo vs Sabre) I have a fleet mate who lands on grid near the end of the fight. However he landed too late to aggress and so was never actually involved in the fight.
* In the scene Cyclone vs Myrmidon, Rapier, there is a Drake on field that is not attacking me. This drake was hamfit and trying to shoot the shield buffered gank myrm, but he had no prop mod and was out of range the entire time. (If you look closely you can see his missiles almost reaching the myrm but petering out.)
* You will require either VLC media player or the CCCP codec for windows media player to view this video.

first and downloading :)

oh damn i was fast =)

#edit
actually, i cant really like it since its very repeative and 90% of the fights are Enyo vs X. Most of the fights arent really entertaining since its a short race against the clock if you die or die and win the isk war.

Anyway, i'm not the biggest frig fan around ;)

Excellent finish man.

Great video! I have to admit the Enyo footage did roll on for what seemed forever, but totally worth it.

Pretty good vid mate. too much enyo for my taste, although seems like you probably fly it more than anything else... I know it's stupid expensive but more big stuff = more fun (for me as a viewer at least). Keep at it.

Funny you should say that, as I'm planning on my next vid being more active tanked bc/bs focused. So hopefully I can stick to that plan and make it work lol.

Re: everyone about too much Enyo. I get what you're saying. I did intentionally make the video Enyo themed and the subtitle of the vid is kinda in reference of not just the song but the ship. But I accept a few of the enyo clips are a little samey and I'll work hard on having more variety in future videos.

Thankyou everyone for the kind words and feedback :)

Hmm, I had promised you a post on your last video and did not deliver, so I feel compelled to write something now, even though I do not really know what to write. The video is not bad in a way that makes it fun to thrash the person who made it, but it is also not good enough to just write a few pointers that would/might have taken it into the "excellent" regime. So most things that I can write will sound overly negative, even though I highly appreciate the risks you run and the odds you take on, and I quite often felt your pain while fighting hopeless fights.

First off, the Enyo did become repetitive. You seem like a pretty good pilot with it, mostly judging by the Sabre's and Dramiel's reputation and their frequent deaths. This is probably the highlight in the video, but it is also lost on me. I know next to nothing about frig-frig combat and am, frankly, not too interested in it. But that has been covered, and it is a question of taste, much like the music and thus not really open to my criticism.

The non-frigate fights held a few gems, like the highly enjoyable Rupture fight in HED-. That one had several turning points that left the end result open and is thus something you could find in the best videos out there. Others were pretty much predefined - you saw the ship lineup and you could say "unless something drastic happens, it will go this way:" - and so it did. A video can stand a few such fights and actually needs them, if only to show that the pilot is willing to run risks. However, in order to make a video really good, it also needs a few stunning reversals or grand slaughters.

Unfortunately, for such reversals to happen, you need either superior equipment (pirate implants and T3 boost are most common) that push a ship's performance beyond it's reputation, or you need really bad opponents. Finding the latter is a question of luck, and the former skews the purity of true soloing. A grave conundrum, and extremely frustrating if you want to publish a video.

I think the easiest way is to not set out to publish videos, but to enjoy the game, fraps yourself, and if you have nice fights to show, chuck them together and put them on myEve. If that means you have to throw away tons of just-good-enough-to-publish clips that are very similar to each other, rest assured, most of us have been there.

For example, in my last video, I showed 4 RR BS fights. One of them was set as the biggest slaughter we ever did in relation to our gang size. The others were pretty much equivalent to at least again as many additional fights and were selected at random or based on some almost negligible criteria. The fights that were skipped will, in all likelihood, be confined to my "fond memories" folder forever unless I really find myself in need of a filler in the future.

I do not claim that this is the best way, but I think it works for me.

Tl;dr: The video was neither really good nor bad. IMHO you would have been off best if you had waited a bit longer with publishing, until you got some more really nice fights. Publishing videos should never be the goal but a side effect of what you do anyway.

Hoping that I have not offended, and knowing that I do not always follow my own advice

@Miriam

Thankyou for the very detailed feedback. I'm not offended at all and find all the advice really helpful. I have to say I do agree with you on pretty much everything you said.

I know that I still have a fair bit to improve on to reach the heights of the truly excellent pvp video makers. But I'm heartened that you think at least 1 or 2 of the clips in this video were of a good standard. I have received similar feedback from others, especially in regards to the Rupture fight in hed-.

Your comments about the result of a fight being open are really interesting. I suppose subconciously I have always known that this is what makes the best footage as those are always the sort of fights I find most exciting in others pvp vids (and I have watched a lot of them lol). But I had never really thought about that conciously. Definitely gives me a lot to think about concerning what footage I choose for my next video.

As for not setting out to publish videos and rather just frapsing myself without the express purpose of putting it in a vid. I think you're mostly right. I think there needs to be a little bit of purpose behind collecting footage, as I believe it gives me the motivation and direction to take the risks necessary and push on even through those tough weeks when nothing seems to go my way. That said, that is how I pvp pretty much all the time anyway. So I will keep your advice in mind and try to be more selective with the footage for my next video.

Pros:
Enyo raping drams and sabres
ARMAGEDDON
dat rupture fight
good music

Cons:
too much Enyo dying, made for boring/upsetting footage (like when things escaped in structure :( )

Overall it was good dude, and I enjoyed it! I definetly preferred your first video, though. Keep on going, I'm looking forward to your 'big ships' video!

Good vid mate, some chancy fights, lucky escapes and unlucky deaths, for me, it makes little diff what type of hull you use, its the action / entertainment that i like to see... and you deliver. As posted in kil2's thread, iv basicaly quit playing atm (sold up chars, just waiting for kurtz to go to new owner), but im sure (due to my love of the game) i will keep popping back to check up on a few new vids from certain ppl, you are 1 that i will be keeping a eye on as you make your way up the ranks for eve vid makers, its ppl like you that keep some of the vet's interest, whilst helping the new guys see the fun of pvp, thus help the game in more ways than 1, on that note, i hope you continue to make more vids.

Thankyou for the feedback and thankyou everyone, it means a lot to me.
