Jezus, not this again.

First, no there DOESN'T need to be a counter. Second, search the forums: this has been discussed to death, and I doubt you'll add something new to the mix.

shoot rats in a drake, problem solved.

Or get your shiny rattlesnake out and counter drop his ass, problem solved.

Or go back to highsec, where you belong, problem solved.

The only reason you can see him because of a ****** mechanic called "local" which removes any surprise in warfare in EVE. Your ability to see in the first place should be nerfed.

It is not the AFK cloaker that you need to be worried about, But rather the cloaker that is not AFK.

What exactly is the issue with "AFK cloakers", dear OP?

If they're afk then they're no threat are they?

I hear that CCP whines about dropping a billion cans on the gate to keep cloakies moving thru system decloaked.

Any confirmation of that crap?

Also there needs to be a counter to the AFK cloakie..

Hot droppers are cool, no issue there.

I do have issue with the asshats that take 5+ alts and and afk camp entire constellations for weeks.

I want a fight, I dont want to sit around flying in pvp ship under the threat of combat, when these "uber pee vee pee"'ers wont engage me unless I'm not in in ANY pvp ship...

This is very same problems i try resolve as well. this is hack of game mechanic and violation of agreement for players to not grieve others. I have asked to whether this could be legal issue or not and await response

For what I know the issue is not dropping cans to decloack, this is not itself a violation. Is about creating lag.
If they (CCP) evaluate some action (in this case dropping cans) is done to create lag or anyway results in lag creation they may step in.

An I have never been caught :) tech 3 ftw. An the great thing about it is usually after about a week or so of Afk some idiot will start mining in a rorqual or orca out the pos. ahhh good times anyway for fthose of u afkers out there enjoy those tears harvest as much as u can because we can shut down systems :) oh by the way I love when the try the fleet invite thing makes them feel safe

I will believe afk cloaking to be a problem when people in low and high sec start crying about it too. So far it appears that afk cloakers are entirely a phenomenon that ends life as null bears know it. It also never seems to be any of the null pvp-oriented alliances who cry about it either, just ratters and miners who are pissed when they get ganked in badly fit pve ships.

hmmm.. AFK Clockers ... clocks away from a keyboard, yes usually I have my clock away from my keyboard, I find the clock to near the keyboard will make me divert my eyes from eve to whatch the time too often, it makes me sad after a while making me say: damn another hour of my life wasted playing eve, I must stop! damn another hour of my life wasted playing eve, I must...

Best way to counter AFK cloaky camping?

Play world of tanks instead.

Protect me from knowing what I don't need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don't know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Amen.

Well, flying around lowsec teaches one to be paranoid, and in hisec, a cloaky camper's going to be lost in the background clutter anyway. (Seriously, as an aside: there's nothing more frustrating than trying to pick out a single ship on combat scanner probes when you're in a system that's part of a major trade route.)

I have a number of solutions that may or may not have been mentioned. Most simple would be mines. Why not? every other space game has them. Its old tech. Do you really expect that they wont have them in what ever year it is anyway?

Secondly and possibly best, AFK probe tracking. A probe that gives no immediate info but leave it active and it records momentary blips in cloak . Eventually you will be able narrow down the cloakess patterns. And warp to where you expect him to be.

Third, system wide emp pulse wave. Knocks off everyones electronics. After it goes off you undock and scan. If cloaky is still sitting still you got him.

I could go on

And I could read all the other posts but why

I am probably not gonna rage quit

But I might get bored sitting in station and start looking at other games....

All I am asking for is something todo when the pizza man shows up and I hadnt ordered a pizza!

And maybe its only 25% effective, maybe I dont care just dont ask me to believe that in a high tech and complex world like new eden, there is no counter to cloaks.

There are plenty of tools, and a lot of them are making whiny posts about AFK cloakers and how the system is "broken" when it isn't.

Nothing new.

Do you realise just how long whiny nullbears have been crying about AFK cloaking and posting the same tired, broken ideas for "solutions" to a problem that only exists due to their own ineptitude and cowardice?

Ultimately it all boils down to "hay let us scan down cloakers i'm skurred". Always, without fail.

HTFU or go back to highsec.

Please educate me bro cause I don't know of anyway to detect a cloaked ship other than to accidently bump into them.

ineptitude maybe, willing to give free kills, no! But nobody knows how to fight them, all you can do is point your finger and say whinner. well I say Im tired of hearing you whine about me whinning. anyway, if I was whinning I would be using words like nerf and bane. but I am not. in fact I will be the first to say if I stay out mining with a cloaky in local I deserve to loose my skiff. and my pod! so I dock up, now what?

and does nobody see the hugh hole in the tech here? really? ......come on !

and yes realize how many and how long, that is why I am not bothering myself with reading this one.
