Another idea for an energy weapon: A cannon which shoots a stream of gas which then gets used to send electricity to the target. Would be a short range energy weapon which causes pure EM damage.

Mijolnir missile do 100% Em damage already. Eve weapon rules have always both short range and long range of a weapon type.

Morbo Sez : GAS DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!

If there is a new weapon, there should be 3, one for every race. Plasma fits best to Hybrid or Energy I would say.

A new Projectile turret could be a granade launcher or a shrapnel/shotgun type of weapon.

No that is exactly what projectiles do. Doesn't matter if it's a grenade or not. They fire bullets the size of people or small cars with a high explosive nuclear warheads. Shotguns would be.pointless in space and taking into account the gameplay mechanics of EVE.

Capital shotgun though.. lol

If there is to be a 5th weapon type I would see it being in the category of true damage.

Something where damage is severely dwarfed compared to the other 4 weapons but pays no attention to resistances.

Would probably find much use in ganking ratters.

An aggresive-nanite paste stream cannon which does thermal and explosive damage, and that could 'infect' a ship? Now that would be fun :) (still waiting news about that 5th race CCP Blink perhaps it could be their signature weapon)

It's been rumored a few pods have Jove Folding Beams from 2003/4 already.

That said, I've just discovered projectile weapons for the first time. Learning is still occurring. I love them. They could add a lot of new kinds of projectile rounds if they wanted to, imho. So many cool combinations are possible.

With projectile ammo in mind... I wonder if some other combinations would be possible. Maybe a long range neut/damp weapon that neutralizes 1/4 the cap a dedicated neut does and reduces your targeting range by 5% but can do this from 25km? A web/nos combo that works from 40km but only has 1/5 the effect as their dedicated counterparts? These aren't even necessarily good ideas, just ideas. I'm sure real PvPers can do better. Conceptually I think it might be cool, though.

Signatures should be used responsibly...

I like the idea of plasma weapons. The Gallente can have their hybrids. Give Caldari plasma and missiles. Big smile

I'll take the magnetohydrodynamic style weapon from The Reapers in Mass Effect. A low Alpha but consistent stream of damage it could even use some form of nozzle to vary the distances.

THIS ! I love this idea. Going so far as having to out range the weapon rather then beat the offending ships transverse; or something to that effect

the thought of a non targeted weapon that has a spool up time like the Microwarp Jump.......just crossed my mind. Could be interesting; and does provide something to the core gameplay...being a great counter to heavy Ewar but requiring excellent manual maneuvers.

give hybrids the strip-miner visualization and your idea is successfully implemented..

one just asks "why".
