Ok so a majority of missile launchers need some love and so do drones.
But the turrets.. They are "fine"

If you are waiting around for every weapon system to be perfect, then good luck.

All weapons can't be perfect or at least optimal with that in mind.

Brilliant idea OP!
But maybe instead of cone-shape design for the Plasma Lance it could be shaped like the barrel of a 40mm auto-cannon which is both round and it has an even diameter the entire length.It would seem more a appropriate barrel design for a Plasma Lance-type turret.

Why do we need a new weapon? What does this weapon do that the current weapons don't? Why should dev time be spent on something that brings literally nothing new to the table in terms of the core gameplay, i.e. blowing stuff up.

Because all Eve pilots sit on station undocks and dock when agressed. You surely are the epitome of a PvP pilot.

Before I comment on the content of the thread regarding the orginal post and subsequent ideas;

1) The game is not broke, stop crying about "fix this and fix that" just because your favorite or prefered item is not the perfect solution that you dreamed of. The game shouldnt grind to a halt because you want everyone in CCP to buff your specific item.

2) Bashing the attempts of a player to introduce ideas via your ill thought out slander and poor trolling makes you look like a moron.


For the post;

1) I tend to agree that there are enough turret based weapon systems.

2) A "poison" weapon, or better known as Damage Over Time (DoT) weapons would be an interesting addition albeit hard to code. Instant damage application from turrets or delayed from missiles all apply their damage amount at the same time. Coding a weapon to do DoT would require the server to register the weapon's impact and then repeat damage calculations for each of that weapon that impacts the target and their subsequent damage "ticks." This is a similar reason that Eve does not operate ships off of a joystick related controller as it sends far too many signals at once for the server to handle as you start to add up pilots.

3) Should CCP deem that a DoT weapon be feasible and codable, I'd recomend it be done via missile/bomb. Think of a "singularity device" some sort of torpedo that is launched like current bombs, explodes, and creates a distortion field that continuously applies damage like a smart bomb going off over and over for a set time. A missile could do the same but impact a ship directly (tracking and following to impact just as current missiles do) and then apply the same effect.

4) Alternatively, you could implement a racial special weapon that does DoT with an effect that is corresponding to that race. Think of a missile that impacts a ship causing a temporal field, damaging ships and slowing them (minmatar) or a launcher that fires a dumb torpedo that detonates causing damage over time and energy neutralization (Amarr) This is similar to current bombs yet adds a different flare and combination. Perhaps even ammo types that change range. Type A fires and detonates 20k away, type B 30, ect...

Just some options to branch off of.

The whole idea is i wanted a turret that looks completely different, which is why there are no similarities with other race weapons. Not making just another space gun.

If there is a new weapon, there should be 3, one for every race. Plasma fits best to Hybrid or Energy I would say.

A new Projectile turret could be a granade launcher or a shrapnel/shotgun type of weapon.

Another idea for an energy weapon: A cannon which shoots a stream of gas which then gets used to send electricity to the target. Would be a short range energy weapon which causes pure EM damage.

No that is exactly what projectiles do. Doesn't matter if it's a grenade or not. They fire bullets the size of people or small cars with a high explosive nuclear warheads. Shotguns would be.pointless in space and taking into account the gameplay mechanics of EVE.

Plasma yes but blasters work completely differently.
