Increase the model size for supercarriers and carriers.

So true. I've seen that recently in a YT-video from the Serenity server, where hundreds of dreads undocked from the flimsy Minmatar Trade Post. They nearly engulfed the entire station. Amazes me how awesome these stations are at compressing ships so that they fit into the interiors. [:D]

A naglfar inside a Gallente station, on the other hand.. that's an entirely different situation.


So true, try to fit a Nag through the undock slopes of Minmatar stations or into the Gallente Military Station. It's just ridiculous to imagine. [:D]

Also, while larger carriers still fit into the station hangars, the camera has to be adjusted. During the mentioned event on Sisi you could not see your entire Aeon even when zoomed out to max. If ship model sizes increase, the zoom level of the hangar camera has to be increased as well.

I would suggest that in Order to rescale everything, instead to increase their size, decrease the size of Drones, Frigs, Destroyers, Cruisers, Battlecruisers and Battleships, but leave capitals, stations and gates at their current size!

In an abstract sense, I agree with this idea. Granted, even if this was implemented Carriers and Supercarriers would still be too small relative to dreads/titans. Practically speaking though re-sizing everything is probably not feasable - due to the amount of work required. I'm under the assumption that re-sizing something involves a non-trivial amount of work considering how long it has taken to fix the size of carriers/SCs even after years of threads like this one garnering literally universal support.

I always thought the ship scaling was off. Especially when you consider the HP points between say BS/Carrier and Supcap/Titan.

By no means a small task for the art department, but would certainly bring in a better level of realism if supers and stations had more realistic sizes. Would also go a long way to making the game feel grander.

The scale of ships is kind of lost on me to be honest, I read somewhere in the lore that a Blackbird has a crew of hundreds which is incredible because cruisers don't really give that impression, and frigates look to be about the same size as a large car. It would be nice to have a bit more information on crew sizes etc in the description, even if it had no bearing on in game mechanics it could be a stat on your kill board; crew members lost under your command, enemy crew members killed Twisted

It wouldn't be much use as a metric at first glance but it could maybe give an indication of the size of ships you fly in, and the size of ships you've been killing. Someone with a lot of blood on their hands and comparatively low isk destroyed has been targeting t1 Battleships and cruisers etc, and someone with low amounts of crew killed and comparatively high isk destroyed has been getting a lot more kills against smaller but more advanced ships, someone with a lot of kills but low isk and low crew kills has been getting a lot of t1 frig kills etc, maybe it could go even further and every time you hit a ship in structure your killing a proportionate amount of the crew, so even if a ship escapes in structure you have something added to your kb, and in gang fights the people who don't get hits on structure don't get any crew killed. This will create another metric that helps differentiate between km whores and solo/small gang pilots.

They actually reduced the size of the machariel about a year ago, it's now in line with the sizes of other battleships. I used to complain on these forums that a machariel was as big as a supercarrier. Instead of fixing the supercarriers they nerfed the size of the machariel. :/

It was a good change though, the machariel was like twice as big as the other battleships.

I brought this up years ago as others did. Kinda shocked it hasn't been fixed in the 2+ years I have been gone.

I mean we get these gorgeous new models (Vargur, I'm looking at you) but they couldn't even bother to just scale up the existing carrier models?

how about letting supers and titans dock up in station/pos so you dont have to be superglued into your super or titan taking away from all the fun you could be having ganking haulers in highsec or hot dropping people in lowsec ;p

The Orca needs brought up in size a bit as well, in fact it should be (or nearly be) the size of Carriers now. Then bump Carriers and SCs bumped up a size.

I think the first time it came around was when dreadnoughts were introduced.

The ships all need rescaled badly. Regular carriers should actually be battleship sized, and not have huge hangers. Super carriers should have been much, much bigger though.

This definitely needs to be done. And to have more of a sense of scale why not have people working on or around a ship in the station hangar. Thus you can see just how big a ship is.

If any CCP read this, one important thing.

Cap ships are supposed to be the signature to nullsec warfare, which is supposed to be the "big draw" for every starry eyed noob wanting to take on the world.

So they hear about these awesome ships that take years to properly skill into and use with an alliance, they get so excited about it...

then they see one.

barely bigger than the battleship they already fly, not scary/imposing, or really anything (hell in this regard even titans could have a looksy loo at a slight size increase)

Capital ships LOOKING badass, especially from the POV of a frigate, is important, because the most likely person to be in that frigate is a noob, who you want to be impressed with the game. subcaps should FEEL tiny next to even carriers, like midgets on a unicycle in a fight between giants.

Supers/Titans can dock in stations once outposts are completely destructible, you cna have multiple per ssytem, they are modular and fully upgradable, and your required to have "docking" arrays that can hold 1/2 (depending if on-station or extended arm) that must be equipped (at the expense of defensive or offensive or utility modifications), so the supers can eb seen from space while docked to encourage attack
