I satrted playing eve back in 2005 (with other chars etc.) and it was great! for a long time, I had a pirate char and thats were all my fun came from.
I had 3 accounts 2 to support and supply my low sec habit, now fast worward to the last 3 years.

Well my pirate friends are pretty much gone, some quit others changed corps I followed some but couldnt get adjusted to their corps personalities or play style, left to join 0.0 corps, hated it even more so i moved to high sec and for the last 2 years I found my self running missions, leaving the game for a break while accounts continued to run so I wont miss skilling up.

Now I am at the end of the rope I cant stand just playing ocasionally.

So what do I do?

I am tired of being tired, want some fun from the game but cant find the string.

Edit: Sorry had to drive to my next job, so my question here is: what do long time players do to keep the flame going?

If you're tired, you should take a nap.

Have you concidered making a fresh character [not deleting this one] and just joining RVB or Brave Newbies or something along those lines, but doing it all from scratch again?

Maybe having skills and goals to work towards again will rekindle the flame.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

Find new players and support them. Just do not expect anyone to stay, but give them what they need to move on.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Personally I find helping new corps get started to be interesting, help them for a few months then move on. Good way to meet new people but remember you're there to lend a hand not run it for them.

Otherwise take a good long break and set those L5 skills you never got round to. I find after a few months away the interest rekindles. Unfortunately there's not a huge variation in Eve, pvp/pve/indy they all get repetitive over time, so it's the people you play with that make the difference.

What stops you from going back to lowsec? Move a few ships there and just stay there, survive and mess around. :-)

I disagree

Did you identified your source of joy ? you said you enjoyed being a pirate maybe your source of fun is collecting tears ?

I'm sure there is a lot of pirate corp in low sec t do that or you can join some merc corp in High sec specialized in collecting huge amounts of tears , and the days you past running missions .. could help too .

CCP it's time to remove Off Grid Boost and Put Them on Killmail too, add Logi on killmails .... Open that damn door !!

you shall all bow and pray BoB

Tried that, only to see them run on the first dec, despite my willingness to guide them trough the wars.

I have a caldari specialist at least it was, she is trianing gunnery and she is about to finish.

When I interviewed with several pirate corps with my main, they all gasped at the fact that she is a caldari pilot and told me caldari sucks blah blah, funny since I never had any issues with her before but now either you insta pop targets with minnies or they dont want you.

If you want to give hisec merc a try and help some newer players, consider EveryoneVersusEveryone. Great bunch to learn with.

Because Goons ... Roll

Anyway, have you tried Wormhole space? Corps are relatively small and tight knit. The fights are fun and when null-sec hole open the roams are a blast.

Hope you find your mojo again

No, do not guide them, but lead. Do not wait for a war-dec, but enter into existing wars and run ahead. Let them follow you. Before you know it do they want to be the first on everything. Watch them learn and make mistakes, but do not lecture them like a teacher would. It is not worth your time nor do most players want to be schooled when playing a game (this is what EVE Uni is for). In short, do not make this complicated.

What I do is set myself objectives, the objectives can be varied, such as getting a kill on a member of an elite PvP alliance, or something more mundane like getting a Black Ops with the full capability, maybe do ten fleets a week with Bombers Bar, its really up to you to find things that which pulls your chain, the problem is that after a while when you have lots of assets you get bored and spend most of your time in station talking to people unless you push yourself to do something..

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

Hey if you are interested in low sec missioning or you want to do
Pirating or even roaming pvp. You should join my alliance.
I love pirating and I use caldari and amarr they both do what I need them to do
To finish them off fast.

My alliance is very laid back.

If you are interested send me a mail. I'll give u the name of the alliance.
This is not one of my alts. I just use vatos amigo for forums only.

I reached that point about a year ago on my other characters. I broke this one out of the mothballs and put her in RvB, now she's my main and except for the indy alt (that I need to fund my fun) the other characters are in mothballs.

I will give a shout out to Bravenewbies being another place to try for a change in pace, they bring good fights and are enthusiastic - at least when we ring their doorbell ;)
