[ATLANTA] US Southeast Meetup - Labor Day/DragonCon Weekend

Hi all,

My name is Jaffinator, I am a former FC from TEST Alliance Failcascade Ignore. I am organizing an Eve get together for Labor Day weekend. There are a number of TEST duders (or recently ex-TEST duders who are still invited) that will be joining me for a weekend of barbecue, beer crawls and DragonConning. This is open to all Eve players, from Makalu to Shadoo to Zagdul to you.

There are obviously no "mandatory" events - DragonCon is expensive, so it will not dominate the activities. We will do typical 20-something neckbeard social **** that people do during meetups, like going to bars, drinking, checking out the aquarium, cooking out, drinking, going to bars and more. I'd also like to get CCP on board somehow as they have an office in the area.

I will be in Atlanta for the weekend, my schedule is already pretty full since I'm heading up to stay/hang out with friends/familiy and attend the UA vs VT football game but I'd like to be kept in the loop as to what is going on and when and I may be able to swing by and say hi.

I'm not going to be able to attend DargonCon, both for financial and scheduling reasons so if this is going to be dominated by that then I may miss out on attending.

Cool idea, looking forward to maybe hanging out.

It's going to be a full weekend event - totally worth the drive. Herp (NOS SQUAD BEST SQUAD) is driving up from Miami to crash on my couch and enjoy the festivities. :)

I don't plan on letting DragonCon dominate the festivities - I am not attending myself, and it seems that more than half the meetup attendees are opting out of it as well. The weekend will be very "come and go as you please" with set rally points/times to get people herded like cats. Would love to see you make it!

Since we're doing this as a full weekend thing and people will come and go, I just want to get an idea of how many people we can expect at each event. The sign-up also helps me collect e-mail addresses and share information that way. :)

Oh **** I had no idea the game was in Atlanta. This just made my weekend! I haven't been to a game since I graduated from virginia tech a few years back so this should be fun. Now to find a ticket.


I'm in town for dragoncon so I'll be down for pretty much anything in the immediate area.

I'll be down there for DragonCon Wednesday through Tuesday. I'd be up for meeting up with folks though my primary event is going to be DragonCon. I'd suggest the Vortex midtown location as a great place for meeting up. Their attitudes fit well with the typical eve player, food is good, and the bar is extensive. It's about a mile walk or cab from the Con or easily accssed via MARTA.

My spouse and I might be able to attend this.

Does Battle and Brew in Cobb County still exist? If so, would be a fun, easy to get to and relatively inexpensive venue to consider.

As far as I know it does - might be something for Saturday night after the BBQ.

There's also the Joystick bar downtown which is pretty cool, I'm sure we'll make it there at some point, too. I'm trying to leave things a little open-ended as I know the traffic and congestion situation will mean we need to be flexible. At this point I'm only really worried about transportation. I'll send out an e-mail blast before the weekend with some more details, etc. to clarify things, etc.
