This is freaking ridiculous!! The game is completely unplayable under OSX.

This morning I was trying to recruit someone to corp and the client froze about 8 times before I finally gave up.

Macbook Pro 5,3
OSX 10.6.8 fully updated
Intel 2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo
8GB 1067MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GForce 9400M

I play 100% in windowed mode - never in fullscreen.
Crashes happened both when another application window was in focus (eve hidden or in the background) and when I never clicked outside of EVE. The client simply locks up and stops responding. Have to force quit and open it again.

FFS!!? I can't actually play the game! Just log in and update skills. I can't even chat with people!!!

This is also happening to me.

Mac Pro 2.66ghz Quad Core
8gb Ram
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB

Sometimes it'll play fine, others it'll freeze every 10mins.

I JUST went to a full account and this is extremely frustrating to have happen now that I am paying for Eve.

My bug got added to an existing/known issue but I haven't heard back on it.

I tried running it in VMWare, and it worked, but the graphics were very glitchy and everything was very slow.

Probably just going to ask for my money back or my account to be frozen at this point, I don't have much effort left to put into this.

Please can you all comment on the severity of this issue since Crucible 1.5? Has it improved, its it worse?

Eve still freezes within 30secs as soon as I run a bit torrent client at the same time as Eve.

Still freezing constantly. I even downloaded the full 5.7GB installer again hoping that it would make a difference.

I've had to force-quit the client at least 8 times since I installed it a few hours ago.

Doesn't seem better or worse. Still just frustrating and unplayable.

With the new client and launcher, the old line of the cider for debug does't work anymore:
/Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider -debugmsg +seh,+tid,+module,+debugstr

Is there any other way to generate reports you can use through the new EVE Online binary or any other tool? If so, what would be the command line for it?

Edit: found it:
/Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider -debugmsg +seh,+tid,+module,+debugstr

I wonder if that is still what the devs want us to run for additional crash feedback. Is it?

same here, I'm the habit to cut off any other network task before playing for weeks now… know the client sometimes suddenly quit, but rarely compared to the nightmare of 2011 end of the year.

New issue with : When I accidentally (right-click menu) switch to station environment, when I try to get back to spinning hangar I get an error and then the client drop. I can't go back to spinning until I've trashed the prefs. Very very annoying

EDIT : Well I talk too fast., Freezes are back again :(
You were supposed to ameliorate things not degrade them
This patch looks like a piece of crap for macusers… I'm very disapointed

I'm pretty much playing "skill training online" these days because murphy says that the second I undock in anything shiny I'll get a freeze.

Edit: 1.5.1 is no better.. 5 mins in and I'm frozen.

I did attempt this using uTorrent and succesfully obtained a new copy of ubuntu. This didnt do it for me.

Next up I tried throttling my bandwidth to 56k speeds and increasing latency to see if that was the scenario encountered, this also did not freeze my client.

Interestingly another user suggested that renaming or deleting your EVE Online folder from:

~/Library/Application Data/

Alleviated the problem. This action will remove all your settings, cache and defaults. Did any of you attempt this and did it alleviate the issue?

Do you mean

~Users/User/Library/Application Support/

I have no

~/Library/Application Data/ folder anywhere , and ~/Library/Application Support/ has no Eve folder

Really, really, REEEEALLY discouraging...
- Create a new character
- Choose Race
- Choose Bloodline
- Click Randomize All
- Just pass the mouse over the face

Crashed every single time...

Freezing is reported to all available mac types. Some have said that 2 out of 3 macs have the issue. I would suggest to get some regular mac instead of an optimized developer mac and I am absolutely sure a mac who has the issue will be found fast.

If it still does not help, just ask people to bring their freezing macbooks to the fanfest.

Older players still hope that the freezing issue will be fixed. The issue really bad is when it concerns new players who are using eve trials on their macs.

With 4 million macs sold worldwide in a quarter such severe issues can create significant potential market loss. I suppose majority of the mac users do not install Windows and if they want to play a game they have a choice of only a dozen decent games. Eve online clearly is the best among them. The rest are outdated and an average mac buyer do not play games like Warcraft.

You know you're going to have a bad day when you make a bug report with three logs and they ask for more, giving you instructions on how to acquire those logs IN WINDOWS!!!

(bug report 130332 in case anyone else at CCP reading wants to check it out)

Got the freeze last night while running a plex. Full screen mode with nothing running in the background.

Interestingly I had a "kinda freeze" about 20 min before the real one. The client had the grfx freeze (where things where still happening on TQ just not on my client) for about 10 sec, then suddenly the rat I was shooting disappears (I guess it had taken full damage by then) my ammo depletes and I had control of the client back. The one I had latter though I never got control of the client back, but my ship did leave space once I rebooted (which is kinda a victory I guess).

Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50)

Playing in Windowed Mode 1600x900

Optimize Settings are set to Prefotmance and EVE Voice turned Off

i have reinstalled and deleted the ~/Libary/Application Supoort/EVE Online folder

Running only Transmission and Team Speak in the background

All it took to freeze was undock warp to planet 1 and then to planet 2 and Client Locks up

I already post twice on this but I'm actually also Pretty sure about the torrent (network task) issue on my both macs as soon as I launch a torrent I freeze in the couples of minutes right after. I don't say it THE only problem, but this is noticeable.
I use to play for weeks now with no freeze issues when I cut off Torrent task . (until the last patch)

Well, I for one do play Warcraft, partially because of the native binary Blizzard has made. It is very stable, fast and offers the same features as the Windows client. (Okay, it offers MORE features compared to the Windows client like movie capture). I must say it does suffer from the limited graphic library support (like anti-aliasing) but that can't be blamed on any game developer.

But the thing is that because of the limited offering of descent games under OS-X I'm a happy Blizzard customer. I have bought Starcraft and will be buying Diablo. In fact I will be buying anything they produce because I know they have good OS-X support. I guess the same counts for Valve, they have a native Source(tm) client which runs also very good, I'd buy anything what is made with it.

Thing is, I'm not a big Warcraft or Starcraft fan, I suck with FPS but I still buy it because I hunger for a proper game under OS-X.

I must say that EvE is borderline. EvE is very special and has no equal. I think OS-X users put up with a lot more crap than the Windows users because they have so few other games to play. Still, freezes in the middle of the action especially in a game where ship losses matter so much is a LOT of hurt. I think if I would be playing more PvP I'd quit.

I still hope that some day EvE will have a native OS-X client, a happy day it will be!
