Constantly freezing up

I decided to make sure this was not an issue at my end, so I ran disk utility and hit "verify disk". It found problems. Due to various issues involving our IT department and stuff they got loaded onto my computer and the holiday shutdown I cannot get it fixed right away. In the meantime I was showing the IT guy that things usually worked, including Eve. Then right after undocking at Jita (with the IT guy watching) Eve froze.

Anyway: To all getting freezes or crashes, open "Disk Utility" and use "Verify disk" and see if there are any problems.

No problems here. Still freezing as often as always.

This computer is my main source of income, so I run Disk Utility often, no problems on my end, yet Eve still runs like poop.

And while this is good advice for any Mac user who should run this occasionally anyway, I would find it astronomically strange that such a coincidence would occur that right at the release of Crucible half the Mac users would suddenly develop unrelate problems that would cause Eve to freeze and crash.

I run eve on two rather different computers (very different configuration in many ways)… 1 macpro at work , and 1 imac at home which. I use disc utility as needed ,verifying permissions frequently on both computers. Everything runs fine, exept … EVE.

I can add EVE WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY with incarna., never a crash. EVE was stable as a standing stone!
I can't believe, that suddenly, at the same time I've installed crucible, my mac began to fail and affect ONLY EVE?

I think there is an incompatibility, but which one ? That's the point…

Your English is just fine

The Mac client sucks right now, in any language

OK, so its not that the new client is in some way more sensitive to issues with your disk, and that increased sensitivity is making the new one crash where the old one would not.

But something is going on that is far worse for some than others. I get maybe one crash per 10 to 20 hours of client run time. Others get crashes every few minutes to the point of unplayability. Any other ideas?

i'm pretty sure it's not hard drive issue, i had mine changed about 6 months ago, and i have 500gig spare space, although i've not tried a defrag yet, or whatever it's called on a MAC.

Its rarely necessary to defrag HTFS discs with mac osx…

Yeah, I was totally stable with the Mac client under Incarna, Crucible just broke the Mac client. The lack of communication on the issue is pretty disturbing.

It sounds like I've had the same problem. Tested on both Snow Kitty and Lion. Can login, but in 5sec to 10min the screen freezes.

I've just reinstalled EVE, downloading from the site. So far I've been online on three clients for about an hour. My guess is something went crazy in the patching on some systems, who knows.

But if you have this problem, try reinstalling from scratch. Just delete the EVE Online App and install from the site. (You keep your game/ui settings btw)

Good luck and fly safe.

I have reinstalled from scratch.. the first thing that happend a minute after login >BOOM< frozen..? So, trashed it and put the old install back.

Would be nice if CCP Konflikt could drop by and give us a heads up on the status... we've been having this for a month now.

i just did a full install from scratch. Lasted longer than usual before a freeze, about 1 hour. Then i crashed as i was entering an iteron mk 5 from a pod, and now i freeze anything from 5 seconds to 1 hour. So i would say an improvement until the first freeze then freeze time back to normal again.

I just got back from visiting the relatives for christmas, ran the client update, and now I'm getting similar freezes. It's not a crash, the client is getting stuck in a loop, and it doesn't appear to be correlated with any particular action (first time was after leaving the client sitting in the background for an hour, the second on opening a station in the assets window).

Would it help if I crashed the EVE process and posted the address/stack trace of where it's stuck?

(10.7, latest Mac Mini).

Don't know if i found a fix or not yet, still testing, however if you open up your "display and Graphics" tab on the ESC screen and set the PRESENT INTERVAL to INTERVAL IMMEDIATE it might prevent freezing, i've now had the client running successfully with no freezing while AFK for 1.5 hours.

CANX that, it froze. not a fix, but after playing a few times now, unless CCP has done something, i seem to be lasting longer inbetween freezes, a bit more playable.

well, i forced shut all running programs obviously apart from eve, and everything started running fine, no crashes. I had a lot of microsoft office software running, all forced shut. Give this a try, i'll post again if i get another freeze.

Tried this a couple of times, after a fresh reboot even. It seems to last longer, but then after a while, it still freezes..

OK. So today I had three (3) crashes in one single mission. It was the reprisal and ofc. every time i came back the commander was at full shields. It took a long time to complete that mission.

To me it is totally random. It can play for hours without a crash and then two in a short time. They happen everywhere, but not so often in session changes. Usually I am just warping or sitting in station.

I do use clonemaker since a couple of weeks but I did report this problem long before I ever cloned my EVE app. When I do run two clients, it seems like the one running in the background (I run fullscreen + cmd+tab) crash very very easy.

Please fix.

Cheers.
